The TTKZ can also go through 2.5 inches of wood in one chop ..... and one handed as well ....
This cut was the depth of the blade and the depth of the blade mic's at 2.4 inches.... the branch would have been just over 3 inches thick but taking a 45 degree cut on it would make it a slightly longer distance to travel ....
It can do fine work too ....
The narrow depth of edge near the handle works well for "feel" in doing finer work just as the deeper section of the blade works well on chopping. Infact you can have 3 different edges on the blade for different tasks, fine edge by the hilt .... appleseed convex on the curved chopping section and a semi-fine edge on the tip section for point work or reaming holes.
The Zilla can bite into a tree with a much shallower angle than an axe and achieve depth in cutting into the trunk quicker as a result ....
It will take a tree down quicker than an axe of similar weight and size ....
the axe just cannot bite as deep at the same angle. It needs to come down higher and remove more wood to get to the same depth.
For me the KZ is my best Busse chopper .... the ratio against the NMFBM is around a third more strokes are needed .... 8 to 12 was the result on my last comparable chop off. You can deliver a "lot" of power with the KZ ...
Editted to add that I did thin down and re-profile my KZ ...... so it is modd'ed .... but allowing for it having a zero convex grind .... sharpening will thin it down regardless and so will sharpening a NMFBM LE .... if you keep the zero grind edge.
