Ultimate Camp Knife????

Be sure to post the review of your own tool. I am eager to hear about it's performance.

WOW!!! Gerry, that thing is beautiful. Your work is awesome.

My wife and I are headed for Alaska next summer for 6 weeks of camping and kayaking. I have given a lot of thought to my gear and just completed this little ax to take along. It is small enough to fit in my pack but will still cut firewood; small of course. I figure to use it like an ulu for cooking and use it as a combination knife and ax. It will be almost impossible to peel a potato but I will be taking my leatherman along too. When I lived it the Great White North one of my fishing guide friends used to show off by using a small ax to filet walleyes. Lots of possiblilties here.

What do you guys think?

I'd say you have a firm grip on reality.

Great looking mini axe! Well done.:thumbup::thumbup:

Have a great time in Alaska.

Bigfattyt: I use a 5 foot blade in a power hacksaw but it still took a while to cut the blank out!

Here is a shot of the sheath I built for the ax and along the way I found that it makes a great knife for cutting leather. Just hold it like you would an ulu and rock it as you cut. I think I am going like this pattern.

Wow. I really, really (really) like this one. Great flowing lines and a beauty to boot. Would you be willing to make some for sale?

Looks like you've got yourself some pending orders? Have you picked a price-point yet? :o) I like the idea of a forum ax, too.

I gave some thought to having a couple of dozen of these water cut and put them up for sale but I retired from my day job about a year ago and do not want to go back into business. I sold this one to an old customer for $140 and had to cut another out for myself. I might post one on the Forum occasionally but just don't want to start mass production and turn my hobby into a job.

Wow!! How'd I Miss this the first time thru??
So... You gonna make more or not?

I have one cut out that I will take to a show next month to see what kind of reactions I get there. Watch the Makers threads for more in a few months.
