I am downsizing my collection and have for sale what I feel is the best storage system for your knife collection. I have (3) custom laser cut, closed cell foam inserts designed to fit a standard Pelican 1550 case (not included). All together this offers safe, secure storage for up to 59 knives. Each tray is cut from PE Foam ((Polyethylene) and Ester (Polyurethane)) - which is fairly dense, and only slightly pliable. It offers a secure, snug fit. It does not "gas off", corrode or shrink.
After getting tired of how ragged "pick&pluck" foam gets I wanted to design a better system and one that better displayed my collection. I spent $149 to have these made - my loss is your gain. A similar system from NalPak for the 1550 is over $200 for just the foam.
Here is how the three trays are layed out:
Tray 1 - 9 slots measuring 1.25"wide x 6"long x 1.5"deep and 14 slots measuring .75"wide x 4.25"long x 1.5"deep (great for traditionals and slipjoints)
Tray 2 - 9 slots measuring 1.25"wide x 6"long x 1.5"deep and 9 slots measuring 1.25"wide x 5"long x 1.5"deep
Tray 3 - 9 slots measuring 1.25"wide x 6"long x 1.5"deep and 9 slots measuring 1.25"wide x 5"long x 1.5"deep
