Now, those are the kind of knives that get my attention!

I have been on a quest to find just the right compact, lightweight knife for outdoor use and have added a few, and have yet to add a few, to me "accumulation" of such.

I just got my hands on Kathy Breededen's Kat Knife tonight and I have to nominate that one for inclusion here. It's a super little knife and I have to have one.

I think Matt L's Short Kephart fits in wwell here also.

Right now, the one in my avatar is crowding my others for "first place" in this particular race but there are so many that are so good that it's just too hard to pick.

Aw, maaaaan! Every time I think I have "the one...................."
Those are sweet!

i hear that one jeff....:o though i can honestly say that your design kicks butt man... once again, it is a near perfect design for me and what i look for in a knife... i have been useing this thing almost everyday since i got it..
the 3/32 thick o-1 makes the knife really light-weight and crazy sharp too... bryan did a great job...i am really looking forward to getting mine in 1/8 thick steel... this one is going to have green micarta scales..:D i got an email from bryan earlier and it was mailed out today...

bear-- that was a sly move on your part, throwing up that pic... i might just have to look into another JK knife.. i really like that EDC bushcrafter...:D though a kephart sounds cool too, i don't have one of those..

That hiker is sweet ruben. It looks exactly like my HB but bigger! It might have to be my next JK.

The Hiker 4-inch is a good size for most tasks.

A side note about the Breeden PSKKII and the JK Hiker 4-inch, they are both 1-inch wide which is perfect for woodcraft mainly notches for traps and tarp stakes.

Breeden, Koyote and JK knives are really making quality handy, lightweight knives, but his doesn't limit them to hiking and backpacking only!:)

Oh, yeah, that one!:o Thanks, Mike. I have been using the snot out of mine. Hoping to get to do an actual review this weekend. The VII is feathery but I like your idea of a 1/8" model. Mayv have to get one of those too now.

i....the 3/32 thick o-1 makes the knife really light-weight and crazy sharp too.....

I just weighed both on a postal scale and the VI weighs 3.2 oz. with the Micarta scales and the VII (in the avatar, w/ Maple scales) weighs 2.6 oz. Both without the sheath, of course.

I am anxious to hear about your 1/8" model - I want one but don't know in which version.

I also now know that I want/need one of those by Stomper. I couldn't find where his pics are stored, ran out of time.

wow that's pretty darn light jeff.... i'm curious to know how much the 1/8 model weighs...:o i just weighed my breeden "hamilton bushcrafter) and it weighs 3.3 oz...

Nice pics and review. I'm really coming around to light knives myself. The all-rounder light package can be very useful for belt carry and add a heavier stock knife in the pack if needed.

One thing not mentioned though is it seems that kydex takes the maximum advantage of light carry + compact. Leather is gorgeous, but packs on the oz's quick as can be.
