Ulu

pretty bland blanks, IMHO. Not evil, but not something I would personally enjoy. (My mother uses the hell out of one, but then she's not as picky as most of us) They seem to be what alot of people up here super glue a chunk of anter to and attempt to sell for $150 as a "custom Alaskan made Ulu knife"

The price difference is steep, but for a blank, I'd consider Ragnars:

A couple days ago after reading this thread, I went into the junk pile and pulled out a rusty old circular saw blade. After the angle grinder and belt sander treatment, I had a nice small ulu blade. Epoxied on a wood handle. sharpened up. It's handier in the kitchen than I thought it'd be.

About 3.25" tall. The edge is 4.5". Steel is .052" thick.

It really wasn't much work at all, with the aid of power tools. A very easy and quick afternoon project. Now I might have to make a sheath for it. I'm thinking of making a larger ulu with the rest of the blade, with an offset handle allowing more cleaver-like handling in addition to the more typical use. And maybe a more clipped point(s) for added detail capability. This is not a good sign. ;)
