In another thread I posted about the trouble I have had getting a seller to send me a knife I ordered. Someone mentioned a federal regulation pertaining to mail order sales of all types. I just did some googling and sho 'nuf, it's true.

How often do knife maker/sellers abide by this?

If you are asking about online dealers, they should have obligations regarding merchandise they stock. But if they aren't charging a credit card until they ship, the 30 day rule doesn't apply.

If you are talking about knifemakers/craftsmen, you shouldn't be paying them in full until they tell you the product is ready to ship, so again, the rule won't apply.

I had one tell me the product was ready to ship, so I let him charge my card. That was months ago! He's told me it is about to be shipped so many times, I almost have lost count.
