We all know how most people react to knives, but it's cases like these that perpetuate the fear. What angle are they going for when they describe automatics as "dangerous"?

Automatic knives are dangerous, and might not even be legal where you live. But if you're looking for one, the Kershaw Launch 1 Knife is a great choice. It has a 3.4-inch blade made from corrosion- and wear-resistant CPM154 steel with a BlackWash finish, a contoured anodized aluminum handle, a reversible pocketclip to accommodate left- or right-hand usage, and a quick, powerful push-button opening system. Made in Oregon

What exactly is incorrect about it? Automatic knives ARE dangerous, especially to the uninitiated or unprepared. I had a friend at work ask to see my Launch 2, and he didn't have as firm a grip as he thought and when he fired it, it almost flew out of his hand. Thankfully he had enough of a grip that it didn't, but it could have easily flown out of his hand and landed point down in his foot....or MY foot. Some autos launch hard, and if you aren't ready for it, it can be bad news.

People market knives using their "danger" all the time to the tactical folks.

Plenty, plenty, plenty people want a knife that's dangerous..or...oooh! might be illegal. They cant resist it.

Or is "for operators only" or "extreme" or is "gov mil spec tec ops" etc etc etc.

Have you just noticed this?

Sounds like it was written by some fat chick who just got a journalism degree from Podunk Community College and has never picked up a knife. Maybe we shouldn't get too worried about what she thinks.

Ad copy rating 10/10; would definitely buy based off the danger level... ;):D:thumbup:

Exactly. I owned one double action auto (which you would think would be safer than a fulle auto since its optional) and that knife cut more people more than every other knife I've ever owned combined.

It's also the only knife to ever open in my pocket.

That being said, I loved it, I miss it and I wish I had it back.

Is this dealer on bladeforums?
It's not a dealer, not even a retailer. It's a blog of products for men.

Also, if the description in the first post is what Uncrate is using, I don't see the problem. You guys certainly are fired up easily.

I find that post about a hundred times more objectionable than anything in that sales pitch. Wow.
Seems to be not unusual at this point. Very visceral and reactive posts. I don't see anywhere in the sales write up that is even anti knife.

What's up Powernoodle, you got something against fat chicks?

He's seen too many of his noodle brethren fall to the maws of overweight women. Legions of his kind slurped down relentlessly accompanied by their salty brine, or occasionally a nice marinara or pesto sauce.

Thus was born Powernoodle, an incarnation of delicious justice with a preference for fine cutlery. Tread fearfully, voluptuous females, as he will stick to the walls like a starchy ninja and rain whole-wheat justice upon those whom should not be allowed to wear yoga pants.*

*Jiggly Mountain is not an acceptable yoga pose.

Before this thead gets moved, or closed, the Launch series can be dangerous knives. I have a 1 and a 3.....when deployed they lock up about half the time. The spring doesn't apply tension for the entire length of travel. The blade 'bounces' back and doesn't lock up. If attention isn't paid to make sure blade is locked.....could get ugly.
