Under the Red Dot/this can't be happening

Glad to see that you made it through safe. The pics coming out of your area are stunning. Smoke for you and all hit by this mess. :(

Aw, geez, Mike.

Very glad to hear from you, and that you and yours are safe; that's the main thing.

Continued prayers and best wishes.

Looks like the roof's still on it. That's a blessing. Is that the ocean in your front yard? Wow :D

Thanks, everyone for the smoke & well wishes.

Man, but I have a lot of catch-up reading to do here... I've read every post here for a year now and a week without electricity & internet has buried me in posts... not to mention YBB's I never had a shot at!

Last about this: Somehow I believed Hurricane Dennis had our number even when it was south of Cuba. Amazingly, it found my specific zip code and centered it's destruction on my county.

Not as widespread as Ivan but if you're in the eyewall it pretty much doesn't matter... Got a good adjuster this time and our new house is already been demo-ed and mold-remediated. Walls, ceilings, floors- everything except my office, kitchen & bathroom.

We know the drill and there's no shock value this time with the loss.

New roof shot but did its job. Tarps are keeping water out (I hope) of the missing walls. So.

What's this have to do with khukris? Well... I cut live oaks to shelter the boat... after the storm, cut many tree branches and the knife really was sharper than when I started (had to use the side of a Smith stone). Did cut a 2" branch with a whack. Wife seemed to get annoyed; looked like I was having fun...

Again, thanks for all spirit-help. Contractor, wife & I can do the rest.

8 weeks now no drinking- not even a thought. I can do this.
______

Picture this: women take showers... I look out and water is pouring out all over the sand out back. 4" PVC line to septic tank had shattered.... but I can fix this. Go to Lowes for piping, cement & fittings.

Upon inspecting, pipe to tank is clogged solid with sand & rocks....8 ft. long. No khukuri could help me snake that foul.. ahh, outta time. I fixed it. But picture this: when you are shining a flashlight down a septic line parellell to the ground... you have to get your face really, really close to a puddle of.... black water.

Thank g_d for the Nuwaii Q3. Wife lost my Inova T5 the night of the storm. Missed it in the electricity-less nights that followed....

Like a khukuri, out of the forge, and beaten on the anvil.

The end product is often amazing.
