Under Wrap?

Lycosa - one other suggestion is to blast the tang before you stick it on. If you have a blaster available, it seems to stick to the blasted surface better. The wrap keeps everything in place, so it's not really a big deal either way, but it's worth the extra 30 seconds if you have the blaster available.
 
I did one last week and it came out very nice. I put a layer of smooth leather on there first but it came out glossy after I epoxy coated it. I didn't like it so I cut it off and gave it another go. Next I used the leather (an old belt) under the wrap to make the grip a bit thicker, then put a layer of "gutless" 550 cord over that and epoxy coated it. After it dried I did the final wrap and epoxyed it. Very secure grip!
