Underrated must see(s)

This is why I won't buy TwoSun. I refuse to buy a product not sold by reputable dealers. I'm sure it's a fine product, but unli can buy it from a place I trust, no thanks.
I get that and it's fair. I'm just more willing to potentially throw my money away just to get something that is a true hidden gem (at least in my eyes).

Buck, and specifically the Buck 119.

Not that people don't know about it, but some here equate Buck with cheap, practically worthless knives that they'd never consider putting in their pocket or on their belt.

As an example, ask this forum if the 119 would do fine for a camp knife and you're liable to get 500 answers saying "No way, it's not a full tang, it can't baton, it's only 420HC, light use only, I wouldn't depend on it as my only blade" and another 100 saying "It'll be fine, and for $60.00 it's a great deal". Then when you talk to someone who's only knife is a Buck 119 you inevitably hear something along the lines of "Works great, never let me down, stays sharp, tough as nails".

So in this community, Buck to some extent is underrated, and the Buck 119 is entirely underrated.

I own quite a few Chinese knives, a WE, 3 Civivi's, an A Purvis, and a Massdrop/Ferrum Forge Gent Select made by WE. All great knives, but I don't have plans to buy anymore.

To be honest, of late, Cheburkov is what's on my radar. I like my Biryukov a lot too, it's just all but one of his knives have blades 4" or longer, which is a bit much for me. My #12 at 3.8" is my largest folder, and I love it. Carrying it right now actually.

I hear ya. I have a couple TwoSun folders. But I know they are shipped directly from China, boxes are in Chinese, and they are without question China made without copying any designs (that we know of).

However, it is quite possible it's from the same manufacturers who counterfeit, as are many knives sold under contract with legit brands. It's hard to navigate, so I just don't buy them anymore unless it's a brand like WE, Reate, Spyderco, etc.

It would be awesome if Kevin John has a booth at BS this year. What a riot that would be. 🤣😂

ETA: I’m not a Kevin John knives supporter.

I don’t do Chinese and “homages”

My usual recommendation for these “cheap underrated” knives is the EnZo Birk 75. Unique design. 3” S30V flat grind blade. HRC 60-61. Dual thumbstuds. Smooth linerlock. Bronze washers. Deep carry clip (removable). Choice of scales, including ironwood and carbon fiber. Handmade in Finland. Unconditional warrantee. About $150

Those Birks are amazing folders. I have three and they bring a lot of joy.

These are very nice looking. Might have to look into them now, thanks for actually participating, rather than just virtue signaling. Really means a lot.
