Underrated or under appreciated Bussekin knives.

Nice browse through time and pics of models of Busse knives, that I have never seen before.

I guess I started liking them too late. 🙃
Same here.. so much Busse knowledge in here I can barely keep up.

Wish I have joined this community back in the early 2000's when I found and lurked this site.

Been reading a lot of ya'lls posts for the better part of 20 years now.. shouldve jumped into the mix earlier but alas ... I was like 11 and kinda scared of talking to a bunch of grown ass men about a subject I knew very little about at the time haha. I still missed a lot though and this thread makes it painfully obvious.

The community here is a truly wonderful place..

I completely agree, by and large the guys here are great, a wealth of knowledge and really cool to "hang out with" as well as do deals with.

A couple of weeks ago I really dug into the Busse collector website, it's amazing, and also in my opinion, in need of a a major update and overhaul...

I may undertake this, we'll see

That thing does need a revamp. Looooottsss of new blades need to be added. Is that thing open source? Or would need to track down who owns the ip? That would be something I could try to help with in between life stuff. Sounds like a fun project.

Rad, it's https://www.bussecollector.com/ - mikeymoto mikeymoto owns this site - I haven't had any interaction with him here as I'm "new" even though I've "been here" for 12 years...

Hi, yes I'm the custodian (not to be confused with the janitor) of the BusseCollector site. I don't stay up to date on the new Busse kin and you're right I haven't updated it for quite a while. I like the open source idea and will work on that.

This thread has the last few years of offerings. All credit and thanks to JohnTheTexican JohnTheTexican

I'm doing just fine, been absorbed in other hobbies the last several years. Typical stuff - guns, watches, amateur radio, 3d printing, and more time focusing on knives I can fit in a pocket.

In my time crafting leather I developed so much respect for leather workers. It's an artistic medium, making a sheath that works well, looks great and will last. For my wants and expectations the demand was high, output slow, and it just stressed me out always having a huge backlog to work through. I've found other creative outlets to let me design and make things in small batches, that I can sell from stock on hand. I still do some leatherwork occasionally, but you're probably not going to see any new Busse sheaths from me. So that's now a collector's item 🧐

I'm sticking with the BWM.

I think that if a lot of people can't spell it correctly (Bushwhacker is common) or get the acronym right (BWBM is common) then it is under appreciated.

Now I'm even getting a little confused.

How would one go about editing Info into the current site? Would you be able to open it up for users to edit in the newer stuff in a way similar to a wiki?

For example if I provided details of a knife. Then a mod (you or someone delegated to the role) eventually verifies the veracity of the information provided. Then an approval process and post to site type thing.

This sounds like a good time passer if one has downtime and notices a knife or configuration isn't listed.

Thanks for considering the idea btw. A lot of us use your current site as an accurate source for info on purchases of Busse(kin).. especially the older ones. 😀

I think the 3B2 flew under the radar. The SHBA may be underappreciated due to it's short blade length.
My two favorites.

Agree completely, fantastic heavy brute of a belt knife. It has great forward weight for a knife this size and because of this it makes for quite an impressive mid-size chopper if dialed in with a more acute edge geometry than what is received with the factory edge.

I received this knife from cpirtle cpirtle a while back and was shocked to see that it looked as though it had hacked through a pile of something nasty. I asked Chad about it and he said he though the prior owner might have cut some MDF cutting boards.

Either way, it had the shoulders knocked down some and a piece taken out of the tip maybe a few mm or so. So it needed quite a bit of grinder time because of this. Now it's down to 15 DPS on the straight edge and tapers up to just over 20 DPS at the very tip.
