Yep, the flies are already circling. Post pictures before and after and otherwise don't continue to post on this thread. You really don't need the abuse, especially not on your first few posts.
Personally, I would never sent a knife back to any maker that sells a $400+ knife that isn't individually hand checked. If a $40-120 Spyderco or BM slips through the cracks, fine. For $400 semi-custom there is NO excuse. Semi-custom (midtech) implies that a real individual (as opposed to a machine) has held the knife and worked on it, right? So how come that that individual does not notice these issues while working on it what a superficial inspection reveals in a few seconds. I just don't get why people actually defend this? Over and over again.
As to your local guy who doesn't sell $500 knives. I don't see a problem with that. I don't think that STR commands such prices either, yet I have no doubt that you would get a knife free of any defects, cosmetic or other nature, if you get a knife back from him....just a guess though
