7 and ½ years, ~50 knives and 5000 posts later, I thought it was about time we made it unofficial!

The contributors to this little corner of the web definitely make up the Unofficial Chris Reeve Knives Collectors Club. I thought it would be nice if the members were to sound off, and maybe take the time to tell us, what was your very first Chris Reeve Knife?

Mine was a Large Decorated Sebenza with a Unique Graphic that I bought on the For Sale forums here at BFC. I took the plunge and never regretted it. A few years later I asked the folks at CRK if they could make a Small Sebenza for me with a similar design, they did so and liked it enough to use it as one of the original Computer Generated Graphic (CGG) models, the “Line Drive” graphic.

What a wonderful idea!! My first CRK was a large regular Sebbie, with BG-42 for the blade. (I bought it at Nordic Knives in Solvang, CA,) I traded it off for an SNG. I missed it. I HAD to get another one!! So, I traded off another SNG for a large Sebbie w. S30V. I sssure you, that I will NEVER be without a Sebbie again!! I have 2 now, and of course wanting more. I have my small classic in my pocket as we speak!! I also have a Bocote wood Mnandi & my Holy Grail of knives; a Blue Circles Umfaan!! St. James, thatis a great story!!!

Cool idea.

50 knives

Looks like I have quite a ways to go before I catch up to ya. Of ocurse by then you'll have 200 sebenzas. :p

My first sebenza story
----------------------

Around 10 years ago I used to go regularly to the monthly gun and knife shows at the Dayton OH arena. I had just started getting into knives and had a few spyderco's. I usually went with $100 cash and make a vow with myself not to spend more then that.

One show I stopped by a vendor "Harrisons Point's and Edges". They had a small sebenza in ATS-34 for $260. I tried it, and then a beam of light shown down from above, angels sang, etc.

So to buy it I had to give them all the cash, charge $100, and he gave me a trade in of $60 for a knife I had on me at the time. I was both scared I payed so much and positively giddy for the next 3 days.

Believe it or not I did not buy any additional sebenzas for maybe 5 years. In fact after a year or so I put that knife away in the closet. In the mean time I bought mostly spydercos. At some point I caught the sebenza bug again began to ruthlessly sell almost everything non CRK and bought mostly regular smalls. I bought and sold, bought and sold. Then I got focussed on Mayo'd sebs and LE sebs and that's where I've been since.

Here's a pic of the very latest I added to my collection ( BTW Thanks Tall Paul)

My first Sebenza was a large regular in S30V. I sold it due to financial need. I then picked up (at a later date) a small regular in S30V, but I really didn't care for the handle shape on the small, and I sold it. Fast forward X 10 months I now have a small classic in BG42 and it is definately a keeper! I hope to find a Large Classic in BG42 to keep it company. Gotta love the Classics.

My first (and currently, my only one, but not the last:)) was a small classic w/ AfricanWood inlays.

I will probably get a mnandi w/ AfricanWood too asap :D

I learn about Sebenza at some gun forums, you know those posts who make fun of gun owner who carry cheapo knife :D which lead me here to BF.

My first is a blackwood small Sebie for 2 years, lost it one day  :o on a camping trip.

Right now I have the large tanto, small moonsong and small bocote. Just get my snakewood Damascus Mnandi from CRK, Thanks Heather!!!!!

Thanks stjames  and other Sebie user : Proud to be part of Unofficial Chris Reeve Knives Collectors Club.

I guess I am relatively a newb when it comes to CRK's. But since last year I have definately caught the bug. After hearing about the sebenza somewhere I stumbled upon this site which has proven to be my number one source for CRK information and other knives. First sebenza I owned was a small classic micarta, then a large reg. I now also have a large reg. in BG-42 I purchased used and a small reg. in S30V. The sm. reg is my edc, big chores call upon the lg. reg BG-42 and I hope to have a mnandi soon. Thanks to all for the great advice I have gotten from this forum and to Chris Reeve for the sebenza.

My first was a small regular with BG 42 in the summer of 1999.

I first touched a Sebbie as a part of a passaround maybe 3 years ago. Small Classic. I couldn't believe what a little tank it was. I was hooked at that point. It's been downhill (for my wallet) since then.

My first CRK is a sable IV from 1998. I was unemployed but had to have it. I should have gotten an Umfaan then when it was available. My 2nd is a small regular seb from feb 2006. My 3rd is a snakewood mnandi march 2006. I have 2 damascus on order. I am hooked. I did not collect knives for many years because I was in graduate school. Now, I can finally afford some knives.

StJames, you have 50! CRKs? Aaaaahhhhhh, I am in awe. How many large sebs and how many small sebs and how many mnandis? Does anybody else come close to this number?

Current inventory;

1 Pre-Sebenza folder
21 Large Sebenzas
17 Small Sebenzas
6 Mnandi
6 Umfaan
1 7" Green Beret

I understand from Anne that there are people with twice that.

Any sebenza is worthy of having and cherishing. I only collect Mr. Reeve's folding knifes.
I am lucky to have even one. But my collection has grown surprisingly!!!

My inventory: 13 large sebenza's.......various types
7 small sebenza's
3 mnandi's

Thats it for now!!!!!!
