Unofficial Rat Chat!

I am eagerly looking forward to owning my first RAT (RC-3) and am on the fence as to whether to get serrations or not. I know that when well designed they provide formidable cutting power. Intending to carry this almost daily in a bag for what ever cutting need may arise and also outdoor (fishing) use. What advice can you lend me? Aesthetically I like non serrated blades but want the most functionality out of this one.

Cool snake Tony. Ribbon snake right? Pobox, I'd get the plain edge version, but I've always been 100% anti-serration when it comes to knives. They're a pain to sharpen.

Tony, did you bite it in half and allow it to continue to wriggle, headless, in your mouth for a few minutes and then eat it raw, skin and all?

Practice hard my friend or you'll never be the next Bear.:D

Man, I haven't even got my RC-3 yet and already decided I need a RC-4 for fishing and other outdoor activities where a little more blade will come in handy. I guess if I go with a DT RC-3 w/serrations for bag EDC and an RC-4 OD (orange) plain blade my bases should be covered, right? :-D...

There was a thread earlier with pics of a RAT knife with the coating stripped off, but I can't seem to find it, likely due to computer illiteracy. Anyone have any idea how that was done? Not planning to do it to any of my knives, but I am curious.

Not the precise one I was thinkin of, Longknife, but it's even better. Thanks a lot. Wonder what's in the chemical he placed on the blade? That can't be good for ya.

 my pleasure brother. I plan to try this once my coating takes a good beating, but at the rate I'm going...

Just got my first RAT (RC-3) this week, WOW, what a knife. It feels like the most solid knife I've ever held. Haven't really put it through it's paces yet but looks/feels like it can take a beating.

gotta look at the RC-4 now....damn this site. :D
