I recently purchased a knife that was like new in box and when I received it the blade was off center though it is not bad enough to interfere with function. There were more than a few small scratches on the blade. It came in the wrong box and did not have the factory letter included with it. Knife was shipped to me first before I sent payment so I asked the seller if a $10 in reduction in price would be fair for these issues that weren’t mentioned in the sale thread. I probably should have asked for more, but being that I already had the knife I didn’t want it to seem like I was trying to negotiate a better deal. The seller acknowledged all of the issues I had with the knife and said he had the correct box and would send it out. Seller said he sent the box out and I never received it and I let him know. About a week after that he said that he received another one of the same knives and said he was going to use it so he would send me that box. I still haven’t heard anything ands have sent multiple pms and visitor message all ignored, though he has been online. Also when I asked for the $10 reduction his original payment requirement was PayPal, quick and easy and no extra cost to me. After he agreed to the reduction he changed the payment terms to a USPS Money Order and Priority Mail shipping, which took $8 of the $10 reduction that I got. Knowing all of this, would you leave a negative feedback?

Well, no.

When you received the knife, you renegotiated the deal and accepted the new terms with a known product.
It is said here often that a deal is not a deal unless both sides are happy. Perhaps you should have sent it back?

I think you did a good thing by letting the seller know his description was insufficient. Hopefully, he will use a more critical eye in the future.

In the future, I would encourage you to return a knife in a similar situation. the small cost of shipping is less than the heartburn of having accepted a deal you regret later. (Yep, I have been there)

My main point was still not receiving the box and being ignored. I posted all the other info to be fair. Also I did not realize the box was not correct until after sending the MO. Isn't the seller not completing the deal by not sending the box?

If he is continuing to post and be active, go a head and call him out. Before that, you might check his profile and see when he was on last. Could be away.

Some would say post it for his failure to follow through. Blast him for the scum that he is etc.

That just has not been my approach. Be patient and persistent. Remember that how you manage this is important too. There are a number of people who have been wronged, but responded so poorly people will avoid them in the future as well.

Your initial post is nowhere near that point, I am just encouraging patience and persistence. Unless the other party is a deliberate turd, you are actually helping them to become a better forum member as well.

He is still an active gold member. It has been two months since I bought the knife.

Send him an invitation to this thread and ask him to share his perspective on the issue.

He may learn that what he feels is a minor issue is one that is substantial for many collectors.
