The damage wasn't that bad for a relatively thin blade. About a 1/16" of the OHB tip broke off in Mario's testing. The OHB uses 1/4" stock although it thins quite a bit at the tip.
Sing,I didnt think that the damage that this knife recieved was that bad myself. In fact I was quite surprised that this was all that it recieved, with the blade being as thin as it was and all scratches were not polished out of the blade either.Since your Bowie suffered no damage and after seeing the test Bowie I believe my heat treat is correct.Mario's Bowie was just to thin at the sharpened edge for the bone test and to thin at the point for consistent heavey penetrations into a dense target.I feel that the test Bowie was still serviceable as a weapon if would have been in a real life situation.Oh yea,Did your friend recieve his Knife yet?
