Which are your choices and if you'd care to say why?

I'm in for Southard Black and Sage 3 with CF/G10. On the fence for the other two.

  • Tusk
  • Southard Black blade
  • Sage 3 with CF/G-10 Laminate
  • Chaparral Stepped Titanium

Tusk, if only because it took nearly 30 years to materialize, and the Sage 3, mostly to keep my collection of Sages complete.

Sadly none, and I love the Taichung Spydies. I already have a Southard. The Chaparral is a little small for me so I own none of those. The Tusk is too specialized. And finally the Sage 3 with carbon fiber is no better than the Sage 1. In fact I prefer the easier to operate liner lock and the carbon fiber pattern on the Sage 1.

I will have a Tusk for sure. I may pick up a black Southard, the other two are most likely a no. The other one I will try to get is the Worker.

I would love a stepped titanium Chapparal but it looks like it's going to go for Sebenza money... Which is a little crazy if you ask me.

I voted for the chapparal, which is already one of my favorite folders. Now it's even better!

None for me either unless I decide to complete my Sage collection.
I am interested in 4 or 5 others from the 2014 catalog just not these particular choices.

Well, I have five Southards, which is silly--what's one more going to hurt? ;)

I'll look forward to the Southard when they put a stainless steel lock insert in there (which may or may not ever happen). So that leaves me with some interest in the Sage 3 CF. But it's not on my short list.... yet.

Looking forward to the Tusk as well! Expecting it to cost a lot, but I have some funds in reserve for just such an occasion! Plus I think I might be able to modify the marlin spike to make it a bottle opener :p I drink more than I go yachting so I'd rather have that.

Chapparal is a little to small, just not sure about the tusk. It came down to the Southard or Sage 3 and I like flippers plus the materials on the Southard.

It will be cheaper than the black Southard. About the same as the brown Southard. I anticipate paying about $225 for it. A new to Spyderco steel, Ti, and two locking mechanisms make it seem like a decent deal.

I probably won't get any of them, but i think the tusk is an amazing design. I would love to see something like that designed as a salt knife. A little larger with a serrated hawkbill in place of the marlin spike?? Oof! :)

Oh really? That's about where I expected it, definitely want to pick it up now!

At a street price of around $350 the Chaparral Stepped Titanium will cost double the nice Chaparral Titanium at $175!!!

Only one black Southard? With the right CF scale it'll look sick.

I believe you have very nice different scales on your five current Southards?
