Upcoming VIPER Swayback

Pardon my ignorance...who makes these? GEC did make a Viper...but I doubt they own the word Viper..
Carbon fibre? Torx screws?
Just curious:)
Viper make excellent knives, as do all the makers in the knife manufacturers consortium in the city of Maniago. It's neat how these modern-focused companies are dipping their toes in the traditional slipjoint world. Which makes me wonder is it their idea, or is it Mike?

At any rate, it's a whole new classification for us: the modern traditional.

Down for a stag version....the blue maple is very tempting but I'd need to see it before committing.

The bold text in your quote is something I've thought about too.

I think the concept originated in Mike's brain and escalated from there but I don't know anything about what may have happened behind the scenes. I'm giving the credit to Mike unless I hear otherwise.

Yeah, I tend to agree.
It's nice how popular these modern-trads have been. Slipjoints are great; they seem to be enjoying a renaissance.

I have been working with Maserin, lionSteel, and Viper (Tecnocut) for 2+ years now on reviving the modern traditional in their catalogs. They have many European traditional models, but I felt with the loss of many American companies we could stand some more traditional options here. These guys all take drawings and ideas and run with them far beyond what I could write on paper. I think if the popularity seems stable, they will probably do some of their own - which we have already seen with lionSteel's Bestman model.

I decided to reserve a stag
Probably the closest thing available to a GEC viper, which is a bit of a grail but are mucho dinero, and who knows when/if they'll do another run.

And noticed that some handle options have already been dropped:
*NOTE: We have dropped the Bocote and Black Carbon Fiber options from the inaugural run.

I was watching Mike's video and I'm happy to see that the knife has integral bolsters/liners, meaning that they are one piece on each side. No soldered bolsters. I wasn't expecting that at all but I like it.

I also have to wonder if the Swayback has a stop pin because I don't see much of a kick there like on the Sowbelly. If that's the case, I would like that too.

Here's the video from CK. You can see the actual backspring, which he also mentions. And guessing it has the stop pin instead of a kick.

I kinda forget about it and I am curious what handle materials we will see I think I recall some uncertainty on what would be offered in the run.

I've decided to save up for a custom slip joint so I won't be getting one of these. I sure do like them though and it's hard to resist.

Looking forward to some pics and impressions when these start hitting mailboxes.
