(UPDATE 6/16/16 - WINNER ANNOUNCED) I was going to do a giveaway, but my dog ate it

I can't enter but that is a sweet knife! Hopefully whoever gets it appreciates it! And a very cute dog!

That is a very cool knife! My post count leaves me shy of an entry, but here is a pic of Tusker, not at all easygoing, but a very intense, energetic dog.

Not an entry.

But I've always liked this picture of a "puppy" who just did NOT want to take a bath.
My daughter's Australian Shepherd/ German Shepherd mix at the age of four months.

Was trying to avoid too many additional posts in the GAW thread but I just wanted to mention that I'm glad to see everybody's pet photos in here. It's actually doing wonders in moving my grief/mourning phase along and got me starting to want to go out and rescue a new pet. Keep up the good stuff, this knife is more than deserving of it!

Hah, that's actually how I ended up with Casina - I was grief-stricken and went to the shelter to remind myself there were other dogs out there, and there she was in kennel 26B!

There will always be an animal out there ready for/to love. Take your time and wait until you know you're ready!

Not wanting to clutter up your thread but good on you for getting a new pet from the shelter. We got our cat Tigger from a rescue shelter for our granddaughters that live with us. She had been abused a lot of her fur had been pulled out and her tail had been broken and turns sharply towards her left side. She has turned out to be the sweetest and best behaved pet we have ever had. I just wish I knew who had treated her so badly if I did it might just be time for this old man to see if any of those 17 years of Taekwondo training were still left in him. :D

Not an entry, please. Great GAW and great pics folks! Here's me walking my son and daughter in law's dogs, in their neighborhood.

I'm in, thank you kindly for the chance.

Casina looks so sweet. She's such a pretty dog too. Maybe it's just me. I'm a little partial to blue Pits. Here's Indie:

My Smoky was my "ultimate rescue", but she really did all the work herself. I opened my front door one day and she was sitting on my welcome mat. I opened the door, she walked in and never left.

I plan to do a little research and find out if there are any county "kill" shelters (something that makes no damn sense to me, but I guess in a city you can't just endlessly house all the animals the officials pick up). I figure that's the next-best way I can rescue one.

I don't blame you. I once lost a fairly long-term friendship because I noticed a pet owner rather callously smacking his pet simply for wanting a little bit of attention. I got up and said "It would end poorly for you if you did that again in front of me." I guess folks are more inclined to believe such a promise from someone who stands 6'4" wearing steel-toed size fifteens. If I'd caught him doing something as craven as what you described, I wouldn't have bothered with a warning in the first place.

Those are the best! They know who love them, and return the love by the bowlful! (They also become spoiled rotten pretty quickly). ;) :D

Thought i'd add to all the pup pics. My fat beagle on the right is Mickey, and Meelo on the left is a half beagle, half pitbull. We had a dna test done for meelo so it would stop being a guessing game.
