UPDATE: My Current Knife Collection - Any Suggestions?

You need some fixed blades, I suggest getting a fallkniven F1, a Becker bk16, an esee izula, and a mora companion.

I love that MCUSTA Katana!

I agree! They're absolutely stunning! I used to own the MC-41C version too, but ended up selling it for a good price, since it was the most popular of the 3 colors (now 4) available. :'(

Love all these suggestions, guys! Keep them coming :D. The Blade Show 2016 (world's biggest knife show) is coming to my area in a few weeks, so I'll check out all the brands/companies you guys recommended! ;)

I think he was warning against the temptation of slip joints. Once you go down that rabbit hole, you can hunt around for a long time.

I like my Benchmades, but have never tried a Spyderco. I gave my son a PM, but I have never seen him use it.

Indeed, no collection is complete without some fixed blades.
Two words: Mora and Marttiini. And perhaps another more traditional flavor of puukko.

Then, you might look into some of the many low-tech ethnic working knives beyond Opinel, like Mercator, Aitor, Filmam, Higo No Kami, Svord peasant, Douk-Douk.

Thanks for the suggestions!! Which Benchmades do you have, if you don't mind me asking?

Nice collection. I'm a fan of benchmade and love the Opinel. A couple of my other favotites are Northwoods folders. I have the Michigan Jack, Esky Zulu, and Madison Barlow. Also love a fixed blade. LT Wright knives. I have too many to list of the LTWK. But if you wanted something suitable for pocket carry the patriot is a good place to start. Also frontier valley or coyote. For larger knives the GNS, Bushcrafter, and Genesis are all great intro knives.

Nothing extraordinary. Griptilian, Mini Barrage, and Pika II, a red box lock back with a spidey hole, probably one reason I have never been drawn to Spyderco. The two Axis knives have been great, but are about as much money as I care to spend on a knife.

I did have another Mini Barrage, a knife I really like. Unfortunately, my junkie step son stole it, along with another knife, in order to buy drugs. The good news is, after he fessed up I learned that Pawn America gave him $80 for a knife I got for $105, confounding everything I thought I knew about the pawn business, and reassuring me that at least some knives could be expected to hold their value.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Right now, I decided to stick mainly to folders. Got to see some of the suggested knives up close last weekend, including the Spyderco Paramilitary II and the ZT 450/450cf/452cf. Gotta say, the ZT's blew me away! Their flippers were super fast and almost felt like spring-assisted knives. Though sadly, I have to admit that the Spyderco PM2 disappointed me a bit. I'm sure they are great user knives, but just a bit too big for me, and the Spydie design still hasn't grown on me yet. Maybe one day, I'll actually get to use it and determine for myself how I feel about Spydie knives then. :P

Yep! That's also what I love about Benchmade knives. They tend to hold value very well. ;)

Any other suggestions? I'll be going to Blade Show 2016 held in Atlanta, GA this weekend, so any recommended brands or knives I should check out would be greatly appreciated! :D

In terms of long term value and quality, a Chris Reeve or Busse is about as good as you can get.
I got my Large Sebenza 21 in late last week, and I am loving it.

Yep, once I save up, I might get myself a Chris Reeve in the future. ;)

Hey, guys! I went to The Blade Show 2016 in Atlanta, GA this weekend, and I saw some AWESOME knives! I can see why you guys kept recommending me customs, Chris Reeves, and Spyderco's. I ended up not picking any of them up due to slightly inflated prices at the show, but I can definitely see why you guys praise those so much. Also got to get a feel of almost every knife recommended here, so thank you all who made suggestions!!

I also updated my collection list, so feel free to check it out! (first page ;) ). Still waiting for one in the mail before posting pics tho.

In the meantime, I wish I can add this to my collection. Saw it at The Blade Show for $5500

Description
BM940121: Gold Class Model 940-121, Osborne Design
Benchmade Knives

A refreshing design whose form exemplifies what custom knife maker Warren Osborne believes important function and quality. The Model 940-121 incorporates the exclusive AXIS locking mechanism for a functional smoothness that compliments well the purity of the design style. A modified reverse tanto blade shape machined of CPM-M4 super steel, features dual thumb-stud openers for safe and easy ambidextrous access. The handle design is slender with a slight curvature and recessed contours for grip stability. Machined of titanium and deep color anodized, the handle scales are a rich green color in combination with beautiful carbon fiber, sparked by a color anodized titanium back spacer. The liners provide solid function for the AXIS lock and feature subtle finger treads for added blade control. TiCN silver coated hardware and carry-clip accent the blade and carbon fiber beautifully. The clip is movable to either handle side, making the Model 940-121 a 100-percent totally ambidextrous cutting tool. Contemporary design, higher standard of manufactured quality, and premium materials give the new Gold Class Benchmade 940-121 everything needed for superior form and function. The one I am sealing is a numbered sprint run number 305 with a display case. I will sale it for $300.00 plus s/h I don't want to sale any of my knives but We have med bills I must pay

Hi Michael Bordwine, can you give me your email, or email me at carrossea@yahoo.com? I can't send you a PM or email through here for some reason. Also, check your visitor message.
