update on Jonny1280's broken Camillius BK9

Either way you'll want a BK7, so just use it. If it breaks, it should be covered under warranty; it probably won't, so if you stop using it now and put it away, you'll buy a new one.....it's not like it's a super rare collectible if it's already been your regular user for so long. I've got a couple of stamped Beckers, but I just use 'em, as you should, too.

I just stripped a '16 today, and by the way the edges of the blank look, I would guess it was stamped. Not true I guess, how are they cut?

Don't know about how the blanks are cut; I would assume water jet or similar modern method. We are talking here about the logo and manufacturer lettering, which are currently laser etched and were previously roll stamped; I think maybe a bit of confusion about the discussion?

Ahh, now I've got it, thanks.

BK&T is still in business, though, and Ethan (& Ka-Bar) have been pretty good about standing by his/their warranty, no matter which company made it. I realize it's not a guarantee, and you are free to buy a backup (under whatever pretense you need - plenty here will back you up) but Jonny's knife that Ethan did get replaced was a Camillus made BK9. My suggestion would be to get a 9 as your backup, if you're going to buy another blade anyway. It'll do everything the 7 does, better IMO.

I have a Camillus-made BK9; I got it for comparison to my BK7. Each has their own individual pros & cons, but my preference is still the BK7. I'll definitely keep using both, and I'll give the BK9 to my son eventually, so he can have a little history in his collection.
