evening BF!

Quick updates on the Sebenza and the Paramilitary 2!

Sebenza:

Still love the knife, i just recently took it down and regressed it. Its amazing how smooth it can be! It's simple, it's strong and it works every time. Quite literally the perfect pocket knife. Although, i must admit, it is quite boring and still seems quite expensive! But at the same time Im glad to own a Sebenza, so i guess I've got that going for,me which is knife.

PM2:

After a rocky start, and being on the fence, i was very close to returning this beauty. That is, before i dropped "her".....so i thought "well now is stuck with "her" might as well give it a go". Honestly, it was one of the best things that could have happened. After carrying the PM2 for a week straight i have come to the conclusion that I L-O-V-E this knife! The compression lock is the epitome of perfection, that is in terms of ease of use (which is subjective to my tastes, of course). It has also put into stone that i love finger choils, something that i did not even give a second thought before!

Anyways, i have also come to the conclusion that i am a bit of a knife collector, and not just a knife "user". I have a few knives on the list and once i can afford the purchase i will "pull the trigger". For those of you interested in whats on the list:

Southern Grind Bad Monkey (i love the ghost green edition)
Spyderco Sage 2
Spyderco Manix 2 g10
The Rat 1 folder whose name escapes me at the moment!

Let me know what you guys think and if you have any recommendations based on my likes!

Love and peace!

Al

Two great knives you have, and two of my three favorite models. The Military being the other.

Of the knives you mention I prefer the Sage 2, but you'll get many opinions, and none will be wrong. We all like different things, and you're really the only one that can decide what features you're looking for on your next purchase.

Whats your third favorite?

You missed it in my first post:p
Love the Military for it's large handle with many grip options, it's great slicing abilities coming from a 4" full flat ground blade with a lot of distal taper, and it's light weight and ease of carry for such a large knife.

I do remember that now! I will deff add to the list!

Which Emerson? What will you be using it for?
For a nice EDC, I waited too long to get a A-100. I have the Mini.

Southern Grind Bad and Spider Monkeys are incredible knives. I highly suggest them. I would check out Kizer as well.

Unfortunately I haven't had the joy of owning a sebenza yet. One day quite a while from now though I'm sure I will be lucky enough! However, I do own two paramilitary 2 knives and absolutely love them I really was on the fence because spyderco doesn't always have a look that appeals to me. I got them about 2 years ago, I'm sure people around here remember how ridiculously hard they were to get at the time with then constantly selling out. The For Sale forum was gouging like crazy too lol. But I digress. Once I got one in hand it was like sparks. The g10 is some of the nicest textured I've ever owned and the blade was silky smooth and solid! (Still is) I have a second one I've never used that I'm gonna actually put a trade up for since I'm broke and want a new knife lol Long story short, they're deceptively great knives.

Which brings me to the point of my post. If you enjoy the compression lock as much as I do you should look into the Spyderco Yojimbo or the Spyderco Super leaf and finally the Spyderco Junior.

I'm sure there's a couple more but they're rare. That compression lock is beautiful isn't it?

Well now you've got me looking at the Super leaf! Darn you!:D

Glad you're liking the PM2 more. I must not be giving mine enough pocket time, because I have to stop and think about the compression lock (too used to liner and frame locks).
I jumped on the s110v train - got one ordered, just waiting....and, with my past PM2 experiences, I figured it would be a good idea to (again) plan ahead. The 110v will be clad in bocote. I'm afraid that I might find it a little too dressy for regular carry; but I plan on giving it some pocket time. (The scales will be here well before the knife, I'm afraid; but I'm okay with that.)

On the other side of the coin; I'm liking my micarta insingo a good deal more. I give a lot of the credit for that to the functionality of the insingo blade; but I knew in advance that I loved the blade shape for general utility.

Can the CQC7 be used for EDC tasks or is the focus more on defense?

I don't have a current CQC7; but I used to have an older one (1999 issue). I carried, and used it for a while; then found the Commander and Raven. I can't comment on how/if Emerson has progressed in the past 15 yrs; but I liked them back then. Would it meet the bar set by the PM2 and Sebenza? That depends on the user - like Spyderco and CRK, Emerson has a solid fan base.
