UPDATED 8/20/2013! My Woodcarvings (With Some Becker Content)

Wow those are awesome dude.

I recently realized I like carving sticks into points. I tried doing notches recently as well, but found it way too difficult without a small hand saw, or maybe some softer wood would've been better (I was using maple, which has a hardness of around 1400~).

Very inspiring, I think I shall go out and whittle some more!

that coal spoon looks familiar! that's what my best/most patient attempts turn out lookin. Great stuff though man, that kuksa (sp?) looks really good

Really nice work! glad someone else can look at a hunk of wood and see a bowl or spoon. If you didn't I'd have nothing to eat with!

A kuksa is a drinking vessel originating from scandinavia. It was traditionally made from a birch burl but those are hard to find so people use other woods. I suggest Googling the history as it's pretty interesting.

You can look at this Flickr group and this link for more examples.

I strongly recommend looking through Alex's (Adahy) forum, there are plenty of photos of spoons, bowls, and kuksas.

If you have more questions, I'd love to answer them. :)

Walnut spoon, this one was very twisty. I had given up on it because it was hard to carve, but I dug it out of the firewood pile and finished it.

A month or two ago, I found a nice maple log in a dumpster and decided to make spoons from it! Here are the results.

I snapped the handle off the one spoon, now the bowl spins like a top.

Thanks for looking!

That's absolutely gorgeous....that looks like a perfectly fried pork chop. Your culinary skills are beautiful......

.....oh, and the wood work is superb, btw.:D

Very nice. I carve too. I have made a few spoons but nothing as nice as yours. I have made wood spirit walking sticks and shore birds and stuff. Just modified my bk14 to be better for carving. But again, beautiful work.

Beautiful work! If I did that, my end products would look like African blood wood. Only it would be stained with my own blood.
You god mad carving skill!
