Thanks for all the input!

For what it is worth, I ended up with Emerson.
Thought I give another USA made company a shot as I already have a few ZTs.

Plus the different options of openings, and titanium liner lock sold me!
That doesnt mean the ZT0909 is not on my short list.

Which blade shape did you go with?

I went with the Emerson Rangemaster Sheepdog Spear Point non serrated.

I normally lean towards drop-point style blades, and the Spear point was the closest.

Also, just noticed I am prob going to want a deep carry pocket clip. With the Emerson clip it seems the handle sticks out of the pocket a bit

Be sure to put up some pics. I'm interested in what the deep carry clip looks like on it.

Will do!

You guys are definitely a bad influence.

Just picked up the ZT 0909 as well. Went and read some reviews, and then got a deal that I could not pass up....

I would try it first without the deep carry pocket clip, because of the size of the knife is usually easier to have a little bit of purchase outside of the pocket.

Just got my 0909 yesterday. It went straight into my pocket and i love it. Its an absolute beast of a knife and a huge value for the money.

So I got both of em in!!

Here are my first impression, please keep in mind, I am sure there will be much more observations with a trained eye:

Overall Feel: Both knives have a great heft to them as they are both over 5ozs. The Emerson feels slightly smaller, but not by much. This is prob bc the Emerson is thinner. Both do feel like quality knives and what you should expect from $180+ price point

Blade: The ZT blade just looks like it belongs on this size of a knife. The Emerson blade seems the width is too narrow. This is just my opinion, but in person the ZT blade looks more robust, and definitely thicker in width, and height. In addition, I like the simplicity of the ZT blade more. The Emerson blade has too many things going on making it look more Tactical

Clip: The Emerson clip hands down looks and functions better. With this size of a knife, I would expect the Emerson clip. The ZT clip seems too small and would have to be changed for my likings specially when looking at the emerson clip.

Scales: Looks wise both are almost identical. However, the Emerson scales WILL eat through your jeans and palms until worn out a bit lol They are super grippy. ZT scales are grippy but wont cause damage.....

Lock-up: Both knives lock up great, and the blade is dead center with no wiggle.

Liner-Lock: Both of them have great lock up, BUT the Emerson's lock up is VERY Sticky. Hard to move back and close the knife. In addition, just from looks, the Emerson liner lock is much thinner. The ZTs liner lock looks cleaner, and thicker and flows with the knife design better

Flip/Action: Cant complain on either. Both flip amazing like a knife should. Emerson does have a few more flip options, but in reality all you need is one great option. Both flip to close almost on their own. However, the ZT does make a satisfying click when shut.

For me, if I never ordered the ZT, I would be super happy with the Emerson. Would never consider getting the ZT. However, just getting the ZT, I would still want to try the Emerson because of the unique ways to open the knife and Emerson quality.

With all that being said these knives are waaay too similar to keep both. Therefore, the Emerson must go specially since I got the ZT for about $50 cheaper, and in my opinion, looks and feels better.

Here are some pics, enjoy

I've had mine for a few days now.
I would prefer a beefier non-deep clip(shallow carry)and un-machined scales.
Still a nice knife. A little bit of drillium to get it to 5 oz. might be in my future...?

Yuo definitely heavy, but dont really notice it.
I have carried it in shorts, and sweats.
Dont really notice it specially for the size.

The clip does not match at all. I have already ordered a new TI clip to match the blade. Hopefully it looks good.
