Okay in a nutshell here's my problem, conducted a trade with an individual and i shipped first. now the person i traded with has told me that he shipped at least a week ago and i still don't have the package. I also have been unable to obtain a tracking number so here's my question.
could it really take ups more than a week to deliver a package from a neighboring state?

I gotta say the person i've been dealing with seems like a stand up guy but quite honestly i'm getting concerned. thanks for you input, ahgar
mods if this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move it where it needs to be and i apologize. ahgar

yes, ups can be very slow.

i ordered something last wed, it is being shipped ups. i checked the tracking and it is scheduled to be delivered on 12-1. that's over ten days, i know the holidays are next week, but florida to ca should be faster.

Sometimes it can take a week or more, but without the tracking number you have no idea where it's at. It could have had a exception notice. You really need that tracking number.

thanks for the input, but keep in mind i'm not talking about across the country i'm talking an adjoining state. ahgar

Sometimes UPS can be a pain, but usually they are next day delivery in adjoining states. I would question sender about tracking number. I guess I am suspicious with sender not providing a tracking number. Good Luck,
James

Every package shipped by UPS receives a tracking number. If the person you traded with won't provide one, be very suspicious about whether he really sent your knife. Sounds like you're being jerked around.

UPS can be erratic, and like any shipper, if the package gets misrouted internally, it has to get back in the proper direction at a total loss of the wrong direction's time in transit.

Also, I usually wait about a week for most of my UPS deliveries (from companies who automatically provide an ETA and a UPS tracking link) but I have one in transit now with delivery scheduled in ten days.

I've had packages take over 2wks with UPS in the CONUS.If it says "Rescheduled"That's usually a "red light".

However, the other party should have given you a tracking#,so you can see if it was rescheduled. There's no reason they shoudn't have given you a tracking#.

Yeah, I don't like UPS, I always use USPS Priority. If it's within the same state or adjoining it's almost like next day delivery.

Guess what? I emailed you that the Emerson didn't arrive today, but my letter carrier had stopped back at the station and it came in after he'd left to deliver my mail already, so he made another stop here and brought it to me !!! What was that, Friday out and Monday in. Not bad for Texas to New Jersey!

I concur, a very good deal indeed. Out Friday and in hands by Monday, and across country too

Good thing we didn't use UPS or we'd still be waiting another week :D

I always use USPS, and insure the package.... at least if it's lost, you can get your money back. Previous experience with UPS during Holiday season (yes, it has started) can take twice as long for a package to reach its destination. However, the person shipping the item to you SHOULD always provide a tracking number.... this is just common courtesy. I agree with others, that this sounds suspicious.

Have you asked the other party for the tracking number, or did they say it was unavailable/didn't have one? This seems more suspicious than the usual UPS reschedulings.

thanks for the help you've made me feel a little better. i think i'll give it a little more time and see what happens. but you can bet next time no ups. I'm not sure but i think they may be evil.

I used to LOVE UPS. I HATE USPS,Never In my life will I ever Use USPS again, unless it's the same state. Thats being said. UPS is losing their S***. They are taking far to long. recently I paid for Overnight with saturday delivery to an address only 3-4 hours away. they didn't get it till the next week. And Ups was extremely rude to me. I had all tracking numbers and everything. they couldn't even track it. I will stick with Fed-X from now on, There is a Good reason Bluelinegear.com use them for 1,000 knives, overnight. On your problem OP, UPS is extremely erratic, like the other poster. I wouldn't be surprised to wait to weeks or s ship in the same state. sometimes the just keep it in the warehouse till you call and bitch, then it will be there the next day. But you real problem is you can call and complain because you HAVE NO TRACKING NUMBER!!!! No Tracking number, no Laundry.
WTF DIDN"T he Give you the Tracking number? Thats what you should be worried about. If it's really totally lost there won't even be insuance without a tracking number. Nad if he said he lost it, or lost the reciept or paper, all he has to do is to to the UPS he shipped from Give his name, maybe shoe ID and EVERYTHING is on the Computer. Everything I have ver shipped UPS is on one HUGE list, just by giving them my name, tracking numbers and everything. My Buddy that works there showed me. Now FED-X will get the Giant list. USPS and UPS are worthless. My Advice to anyone shipping a Blade of any value, Strider, Sebs, High end BMs an Spydies, It's way cheaper, Faster and easier to use FED-X. NAD The coolest thin, you can track you package a ew different ways, AND you know what fricken street it's on, and exactly when it will be at your house. AND Is you can't be there you can call and meet the driver somewher. Try that with USPS/UPS.LOLOLOL

I'll say it again in case my last post was too long.
He needs to give you a tracking number. thats how it works. if he says he lost it, all he has to do is go to where he shipped from and give his name and everything he has ever shipped using UPS will be there on the computer, tracking number and all. Reich land security. New feature since '04.
And once again, I Used to love UPS. But Never again. FED-X is the way to go.

Another thing about UPS. It's a scam. They have 3rd day air,2nd,and overnight. If you don't use that then you have to go ground. and even to the next state over, it can take a week or 2. 3 or more sometimes for long distance ground. FED-X only for high end blades. Or any blade you care about for that matter. Why does BLG And true north use them exclusively?

Wow. Lots of heat, not so much light. A lot of guys have had way more positive experience with UPS and USPS. I have never had a problem with either, in NYC or New Jersey. Everyone's history is different, but to outright insult services that many of us find reliable is only going to call your own judgment into question.

I can understand anyone saying they had problems with UPS or USPs and would rather not use them, but "I HATE USPS" and "UPS is losing their S***", well, all-statements are inherently unimpressive.

I neither like nor trust UPS. Every shipment with them seems to be an adventure. I have found items abandoned in odd corners of the yard, sometimes at a random neighbor's home. They are very good at doing point to business, or business to business; but, lousy at home delivery.

Anyway, give their customer service a call; they may be able to locate the shipment from the delivery or sender's address.
