UPS is full of $H1T

Luckily,I graduated with the UPS employee who covers my area, kinda' strange as we both ended up two states east of where we attended high school. He looks after my stuff as far as getting it here and getting it out till it has left his area after that it's a carpshoot.I use FedEx and receive FedEx about 40 or 50% of the time.My only "incident" was with DHL who I would never use again.

One time I felt compelled to divulge contents to a postal worker. Turned out he also collected knives and we talked quite a bit while the line grew long.

As far as your situation, I say always pack your stuff beforehand. You never know how stupid the person will be at the UPS desk.

UPS will ship firearms and knives...UPS STORE will not. Many people don't know, but UPS STORE is not UPS...in fact, although they use UPS to ship goods, they charge a higher rate than if you went to an actual UPS depot.

I learned this when I tried to ship a shotgun at a UPS STORE and the clerk told me that I had to go to UPS directly.

Hope that helps.

It is stunning how uninformed many of these shipping company employees are about their own company. try shipping a gun and you will get a real firsdt hand look at how completely clueless they are about their own policies.

That said I would have asked to spealk to a manager if it was the manager I would have gotten the information of the district manager and reaised hell that the empoloyees in taht shop have no idea what they are talking about.

well, i already covered this in my above post, but let me add that the UPS STORE is not affiliated with UPS and there are signs in the store that state that certain items cannot be shipped.

Not true.

UPS purchased the MBE Corporate in 2001. The division continued to operate under MBE rules of engagement until early 2003. When UPS formally announced/assumed ownership, MBE franchise owners were given the opportunity to terminate their contract (for a cost) or to proceed with the UPS rebranding (US only). While the vast majority of the UPS Stores are franchise owned, they still take direction from the UPS corporate headquarters.

Knives can be shipped using UPS via the UPS Store. There are restrictions when importing and exporting knives. This is probably where the breakdown or confusion lies.

UPS does handle gun shipments, but only between licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers and licensed collectors, and only when shipped using UPS Next Day Air Early A.M., UPS Next Day Air, or UPS Next Day Air Saver. In other words, pick-up and delivery must be made directly with the license holders.

If you had a problem with the service that you received, contact the UPS Store (that you had a problem with) and talk to the manager. You also have the option of also talking to the owner. And yes, you can contact UPS to lodge a complaint, but they prefer that you work the issue with the store manager. . . .then owner. . . . .then UPS.

I just went through a bunch of **** with UPS not getting a package to its destination overnight.

Package was shipped via a UPS Store. When my old lady called to complain, they offered a full refund ($23.00 for a less than one pound package  ) and the explanation was that it was caught up in the local hub for some reason. The package was shipped on a Monday, and arrived on a Wednseday. I guess the thing that pissed us off the most is that the package was some meds for my father in law, and we could have drove them to him in less than 8 hours.

I will NEVER use UPS again.

UPS ships firearms, don't let anyone tell you different. They can tell whats in the box, that guy had a feather you know where. I've taken big knives out at the counter, probably not a good idea, at the USPS, and they could care less. One time, the guy working the counter showed me his custom knife, I forget the makers name, it looked like a Terzuola.
