Hello everybody, I have a question:

If you were sending a package that contained about 6 books over to England, who would you choose?

Some things that would help your decision:
You are very poor :o
You would like it there by Christmas, but if that means paying an extortionate amount of extra money, its not completely necessary.

Thank you everybody, I'll mail the package out tomorrow based on all of your advice :)

Matt.

I think USPS has a reduced book rate but it might not make it by Xmas...
all da best,
rats...

There is no package carrier that will not either lose, stomp on, or otherwise abuse your packages. FedEx is at least a little better than UPS, and both are better than USPS, but they all suck.

I ship something somewhere almost daily. About 90% of the time I use USPS Priority Mail including international shipping. I have never had a problem so far and of the big three I think the USPS rates are probably the least expensive. I believe if you mail by the 15th of December it should get there for Christmas okay.

USPS will be by far the cheapest (but there's no 'media rate' in less than bulk quantities, so there will be no cost reduction because you're sending books.)

Send it Priority Mail International, and check the rates online to see if a Flat Rate box will help you. The postal employees probably won't tell you about that. It should make it there in around a week, but sometimes 'accidents' happen, and every day you wait now adds to the risk with the season coming.

edit: wow, lots of replies at once- sorry for the redundancy.

I regularly ship out USPS flat rate boxes containing up to 60 lbs, but I make sure the contents are shrink wrapped and taped up then cushioned before putting in box, then I make sure item completely fills the box. After that, I completely tape the box with clear packing tape, then around that I use a 3/4'' wide fiber glass reinforced tape around all sides and directions of the box. If it is stomped on, it will still be intact. Good Luck on whatever service you choose to use.

USPS or UPS...
Just placed an order for a digital photo frame from canada and got it in 2 and 1/2 days....This week
That was with ups... USPS is my first choice though...

- What about over night or next day to be safe?

Hey thanks everybody, looks like I'll go USPS, I was just there but the line was out the door, I'll try again a little later when I have more time.

I already boxed it up and written the address all over it, so unless that fits into a flat rate box I cant do that, but I'll see what they have down there.

Thanks again for all your help.:)
