Urban?

The Urban sounds like a terrific knife! I've been wanting the UKPK forever, but it's so close to the legal limit (local laws) that I just didn't want to risk the hassle of carrying it. I'll be getting the Urban.

Explain the build of the knife, please. What is the rear spacer made of? Does the knife "click" into open? I know there is no lock. It's a Beaut! Thanks!

Lycosa,
As the Urban is not out yet i can't give you specs.
There are tons of stuff concerning the Uk knive on the spyderco forum and this forum . Search you will find as the urban ones will be simular.

Thanx for the Pix Brian. You always give such good comparison pictures. I really appreciate that Bro .
I thought the Yoji was bigger. I spotted one on a dutch webshop but they ask 150 euro:eek:. I think these smurfbones are hard to find nowadays at a descend price especially the black g10 ones.;)

anytime Mat, the handle of the Yojimbo is what makes the overall knife "feel" longer/bigger but the blade itself is "puny" compared to the Centofante4;)

The UKPK will be available in Foliage green and orange for '08. We'll have samples at "SHOT, but they are in production now.

The Urban is smallder (2.5"). I will have samples at SHOT of a "leaf" and a "wharncliffe" in orange G-10. Production later this year.

Our 5th "Slipit" is a new "ball"-joint folder by Bob Terzuola. It's a concept model that we're shoing at SHOT. Very nice.

More versions of our CC-OHO-NLF's (Clip-carry, one-hand-open, non-locking- folders), dubbed by one of the Brits as "Slipits".

1st - UK Pen Knife "notch-joint"
2nd - T-Mag (Ralph Turnbull design)
3rd - Urban (various blade shapes and handle materials and colors planned)
4th - "Wings 70" byrd. a 2 bladed notch-joint (proto at SHOT)

Put round holes instead of the comet and I'll buy a couple.

+1 for the orange UKPK. I've been on the fence about these, but the orange... yeah! Also, will the Urban have uber-cool handle colors? What color will the standard model be?

This will be one of the very very few usable Chicago-legal knives.

My goodness, I need one.

The Warncliffe blade design would be an excellent choice for a slipjoint- the blade design would encourage safe use.

I have protos in orange G-10. A "Warnie" and a "Leaf". Looks like a shorter UKPK.

Production should be later this year. We'll be adding Foliage G-10 green handles.

Long term plans are for bolstered versions and an FRN version.

They're all notch-joints". We're still refining the geometries of the notch-joint, but it seems to be getting better all the time.

Sal,

This is great news, given that I'll be soon in Chicago, a city with a 2.5" (!!) limit.

I'll have to get me one of these. :)

I wonder what the difference is between a normal slip joint and this notch joint.

Is it like a sort of ballbearing which prevents the blade from closing to easy; so more retention as a normal slipjoint?
Or is this retention achieved with a spring ?

I don't have a UK Pen knive so if anyone who has/ knows could explain the blade action between these 2 joint features?

Thx in advance;)
