• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Use of clubs in the wilderness

My hiking stick has a curved knob on the top of it, very similar to an Irish Shillelagh. A good whack from that stick would end a confrontation with most animals, 2 or 4-legged.

A quarterstaff :D
Seriously I must agree with the walking stick opinion of most here, you just feel more secure carrying something that could possibly crack a skull...

A forked end on a stick is extremely handy. I have a piece of Osage orange with a fork on it. Very thin and strong. The fork pushes barbwire and thorny vines, pins snakes, and doesnt penetrate soft ground. You can thrust the other end into the ground and use the fork to hang binoculars, jackets... It gives much better support when climbing over logs, rocks... than a single pole. The tines are only about 1.5 inches long.
