Use that Knife Desk Flyer!!

Cool thread! I'm a retiree and my office/desk use is limited to paying bills, seeing if my stocks are making any money, watching this forum, buying stuff I usually don't need, and occasionally playing a MUD. My knives are stored in that tall cabinet and they find their way on and off my desk and in and out of my pockets on a whim, usually.

My knife use, when I was working and now, is mostly outdoor stuff, cleaning fish, whittling, some woodcraft and food prep. In the office it's opening packages of stuff that I mostly don't need, opening mail, peeling and slicing the occasional apple or pear, or just chicken eyeing and coon fingering them.

I used to go to an office everyday, along with making customer and jobsite visits. I always had a pocket knife on me, sometimes it had to be left in my vehicle if I was entering a secure facility. My home office was my evening and weekend office. If my day on the road ended closer to home then to my employers facility, I'd end my workday here, finishing a proposal, working on specifications and engineering drawings or operating instructions. There were a lot of deadlines, which I don't miss at all.

This was my home office knife for many years, a desk knife made by Kerry Hampton. Last Christmas I gifted it to my oldest son, who always admired it. Now it sits on his home office desk.

That reminds me. Now that I'm actually working from home, I really should put my own Kerry Hampton on my desk.

Currently these two are usually nearby.

Wonderful office, it has a warm homey feel to it.
The desk knife is wonderful, glad it ended up in good hands.
Thanks, John. It's my place of refuge. My wife is always threatening to rearrange stuff. I tell her the rest of the house is hers to do with as she pleases, so no girls allowed (J/K)!

I was happy to pass it on to him while I can see him enjoy it.
He and his brother will have a field day someday! They both get knives from me regularly.
Two grandsons are still a few years from becoming recipients of sharp stuff.

That reminds me. Now that I'm actually working from home, I really should put my own Kerry Hampton on my desk.

That's a good looking Hampton, Christian! Glad I could remind you! ;)
And that Dowell is dynamite!

Sounds like a really cool job! I’m a refrigeration engineer with mechanical engineering background, so sometimes I wish my job was a bit more hands on like that.
Thanks! I have a mechanical engineering background also and worked as a process engineer and a couple other things prior to this. Being an engineer was much more hands on than being manager though!

Thanks for sharing! And that office looks so welcoming! Love the knife display as well. I look forward to the days when I can pass down a cherished knife to the little ones.

Purdy knaffs you got there!

Yup... I get my office and she gets the rest of the house! :D

This is my desk that I'm flying in retirement.

And this Sway Back Gent is usually at hand for desk duty.

Quite a fine desk to fly sir! And quite a nice knife as well. Thanks for sharing :)

I retired as a Chief Engineer in 2001 after 34 years . I designed Concrete Pumps , ran 3 different assembly lines , and was a Quality Manager at different times for my employer . I always had an office and desks . Prior to that job , I had this knife and carried it every where including while at my desks . The stories that it could tell , the things that it has seen , and the places that it has been .

I still have it but I no longer have a desk . The desk belongs to SWMBO , and that is OK by me . The closest thing to a desk for me is our dinette table when we open all the mail for the week and I do have this knife for that . It is pinchable and kept pretty sharp and is great for removing our address from all the trash . I now keep it in a drawer in our kitchen . It has also been a favorite carry for work knife for me , but I think that I will retire it while it is still in good shape. It is an old Taylors Eye Witness Lambfoot .

I really like this old thing .
