Used and (semi) abused pic thread

My father gave me this small slip-joint already used in the mid 70's.
I was like 5-6 years old, it's one of the rare I didn't, use and loose, from that era.

That’s cool. My wife has her grandfather’s knife he used for whittling and cutting for almost 70 years. Basically a toothpick for a blade!

So ya loose your knife. Ya loose your knife in the exit alley from a cattle squeeze. Ya loose your knife in this exit alley and its buried for about 6 months in about 6 inches of manure. Ya run hundreds of full grown cows over the top of it while buried. Then you find your knife:

Horsewright, I have always admired your leatherwork and it inspired me to make my own kit. Your knives are nice too, and now we know they are tougher than s**t. Keep up the good work!

Another of my old one. This is my first scouting fixed blade knife. A Premier Lifetime H49 Made in Solingen, Germany. This one have suffered from my first attempts at sharpening something. But is still in good condition for its age.

Brings back memories to see this one...

Gerbers may be often maligned, but these 2 have been faithfully solid for many years, through much use and abuse.

The Crucial gets thrown in my pocket anytime I'm working around the house or in the garage. It's been used for all kinds of things neither a knife or pliers should be.

The BG Ultimate has been my camping knife for a long, long time. It's actually help up fairly well.

Sterilized USN SEAL GRP 2 knife from Nov 1994, after 20yrs of salt water sun-n-fun.

Now, just as retired as the owner, and is my knife to grab for the end of the world,...

unbreakable, unrustable, non-magnetic, and electrically insulated...maintains a truly sharp edge about same as issue 1095, but then maintains a useful cutting edge for as long as one needs, no matter what is being attacked. Straighten the edge with a brass rod, and keep right on cutting.

Anodize is a surface film of the titanium oxide ceramic coating naturally ocurring, altered, which reflects/refracts light at different angles and wavelengths, just as several inches of water over a mirror, so color shifts, as does what is visible on surface, with lighting and angle changes. It is a lot more worn than even these let on. A sometimes rough med. grey, sometimes bronze, sometimes near black parkerized appearing knife, as light or dark as surroundings.
