User Vs Mint Safequeen

I love to have both...
I ''collect" some and use many others.

Usually when one has no intention of using a blade they want it in the best stock condition possible.

Exactly. What I think it comes down to is that busse has an unusually large portion of patrons who collect rather than use.

I own both but prefer to lean towards users as I don't have the money for both users and safe queens. I think there is room for both types of collector I just prefer to use mine. Think someone posted that an unused knife is a wasted knife and i'm following that thought.

If a buyer has disposable income and can afford to collect Busse knives and not use them, more power to him. I think a lot of flak that collectors like that receive is just a form of jelousy; Busse knives aren't cheap and not everyone can afford to buy them up in mass amounts and store them.

I think we saw the extreme end of that scenario with the issue Blood Grooves had in his thread. He's a kid with very little to no disposable income and it frustrated him to no end when he realized people are buying these knives and not using them.

I think Guyon hit the nail on the head when he said (in Blood grooves thread):

If someone is getting pleasure from owning the knife, then where's the waste?

My sentiments exactly.

Ive been thinking about this lately, WHY the heck is everyone so concerned about weather BUSSE knife has been used or not used  First Busse knives have a lifetime warranty, second some of the most highly valued knives & swords in the world are almost all USERS seems there usage history increases there value. your opinion is requested .:D

Hi, Paul,

You've bought a knife from me, before, so you know that I use even the rare and valuable ones. I suppose new products almost always command a higher price than used ones, but I view a new Busse knife and a used one pretty much the same way.

agreed! people are free to buy what they want. people are free to use or not use their knives. others who don't like these facts need to get over it!

part of blood grooves problem is he seems to be a little naive on how the real world works. as he sees more of "life" he will mellow out.

people who don't like collector's because they themselves can't afford certain knives need to improve their finnancial means, or just chill.

What's all this talk about a "shave queen"?

EXACTLY!!! knives are ment to be used. i dont care what you do with your knife, but if you get a FBM NOT a LE, i got some words of adives... USE IT!!! or buy two if you really want a queen, thats fine but if your gong to collect busse, you need to see what INFIs all about. you will never know its edge retention, the easy sharpening, yet its large abount of hardness. if its a queen, far as you know its made of high carbon steel...

Please do not bring this up again this was just my thoughs. i really dont want my name more famouse for its stupidity...

wrong answer

Sorry, I was having fun with a certain mental image from the movie "Constantine". Peter plays Satan and has a peculiar way of saying that particular phrase.

I don't like buying anything used, but I sometimes make exceptions if there is reason enough to do so. When buying knives for the "user knife" role, I still want a mint, because I don't like the idea someone (who possibly didn't know what the f they were doing) had fondled it all over. :p

What would someone do to "f" up a knife? Any damage would be obvious and most folks only chop a few trees.....pretty difficult to do anything bad to a blade.

Wait, are you saying that there are people that spend hundreds of dollars on Busse knives, the knife being quite possible the most pragmatic tool, and then they put them on a shelf in a safe to sit for years, never to be used? C'mon! No one would do that. Every knife I have ever purchased has been a user. I might be persuaded that a knife could be an investment and placed in a safe for that reason. I actually have 4 knives that have rarely seen the light of day but those are set aside for my sons and I guarantee that once my boys receive their knives they will get used.

That's what I used to think until I started seeing all these Pretty color combo handles with shiny blades and people worrying about them matching to their shoes and purses!:D Chit I remember when all you could get was Black or Tan handles from Busse! Oh and by the way I'm the King of Queens!:p

Baton with a metal pipe or a hammer.
Chop up a concrete driveway with it...

Ya never know what someone might do.

That would be obvious and seriously...........how many folks actually do this sort of thing? I am saying that 99% of the folks selling "used" knives stuck them in a tree...took a picture and called it a day. Being weary of "used" knives is joke.

Oh I agree... I was just pointing out that some stuff can happen and has.

I buy used... I bought a used Mud Razor from you...
and you did more than stick it in a tree and take a pic. :D

I busted my damn hand open with that thing...I think there was still blood stains on it!

That's my point....I wouldn't say abused by any stretch of the imagination, but it was well used and still 100% functional....and still is.

My beater SHBM HAS been beat with a hammer and it wouldn't surprise me if someone had used it to remove a concrete driveway. The spine is dented, the butt is BEAT in and deformed and I have throw it more than a few hundred times and MISSED the tree. And I would continue to bet my life on its integrity and it would still command a premium price on the market IF it ever came up...but that would only be if it were stolen. Why...because it is harder than a coffin nail and sharper than my razor and is backed by the best company in the business!
