Mine means "wolf," in Russian or "people" in German.
Generally in Slavic cultures a wolf carries a negative meaning. They were the most troublesome predators for people, and they are almost impossible to domesticate. There is an old saying: "No matter how much you feed a wolf, he will still look to the forest." And that described me when I was a kid (a bad thing). There is also another reason why I picked it, and it has to do with military slang, but I'm not going into that story.
