Using a knife blade as beer bottle opener?

Two words for you bud... Victorinox Cadet. It is so small you will forget you have it, it has a nice bottle opener, a good EDC blade and a can opener also.

I've popped a ton of bottle caps with the edge of my knives.

People can use their own knives, how ever they want but why on Earth anybody would want to use the edge instead of the spine is beyond me.

Drops mike ...

I don't drink anymore, but when I did, it was from 16oz cans, not bottles. I wouldn't recommend using your teeth, eye sockets or a knife, to open your bottles on a regular basis. I cringed a bit, when I saw Charlie Mike's method. :friendly_wink:

Does mountain Dew taste the same to you as it does from a can ?
I've only had it from a glass bottle once, and it really tasted funny.

Yeah yeah I know, this this is a knife forum and here I am asking about mountain Dew 😏
What can I say, I just can't get enough Dew 😁

Bottled MD used real sugar. That's why.

It sure isn't, but convexing doesn't do a thing to protect your edge from abuse.

A you sure about this ? Then why I have chipping in V edge as right in the picture and I have no chipping on edge like left on the sketch ? Same HSS steel for both blade and from same circular saw so HT is out of question ?

Opened so many beers with the spine of my closed CQC-8 while I was contracting (and after) that I wore a cap-shaped arc out of the finish

These were made for exactly that reason... It's on engraved on the blade.

Yup. Totally sure. Given same radius/angle the convex edge will have less steel behind the edge, not more. It's counterintuitive, but true. Here's a thread where it gets explained very well.

I use bottle openers to open bottles, pry bars to pry, can openers to open cans, screwdrivers to turn screws, and kitchen knives for food prep....

Folding knifes are for cutting things when I am out and about....

No?

Some don't carry bottle openers, pry bars, can openers, screwdrivers, and kitchen knives everywhere they go like you do.

I use to carry a full size prybar on my side but it was just too cumbersome :)

I've got a couple of those but never remember to carry them... besides, why carry redundant tools when a knife does it all. :D

haha.. OK, full disclosure? Me too, and I end up begging for someone to lend me a bottle opener because I am not going to risk damaging a knife blade to get my beer open! haha
