Howdy fellas I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. I was just curios if you guys like attaching paracord lanyards on your knives? I am wondering because I recently purchased a zt 0350 and can't decide if I like having a lanyard on it? Any opinions?

Yes. a orange one on my hunting knives. lost my Puma skinner a couple months ago .
So o now put hi viz para cord lanyard on the knives i carry out doors.

I've never attached any paracord to my knives, but I keep it on the ones that came with it. I was never much good at tying things I suppose

Welcome to Blade Forums.
I have a lanyard on my Strider PT CC, Spyderco PPT, and on a Spyderco BushcraftUK. I'd like to try and make some cool lanyards, but I've never really sat down and dedicated time to it.
I carry my ZT with no lanyard, I guess it sits just right in the pocket and allows for easy withdrawl.

I use lanyards on all my knives. It is easier to get them out of the pocket and you can secure the knife to your belt if you want. Some lanyards also pack 3-5 meters of rope that can help in some situations. And i like it.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Adding a "tail" to your knife adds quite a few benefits is you're willing to explore them:

1. Aesthetics
2. Uncoiled, becomes a retention loop for your hand
3. Drawing/pulling aid from your pants
4. Additional grip area to extend the handle (such as for snap cutting)
5. Ready cordage if needed or for emergencies

I use them on my smaller knives. I seem to be able to retrieve them from my pocket easier...:D:thumbup:

I make some sheaths that have the knife deep into it, a lanyard helps draw it out...

it's strange - i absolutely hate using a knife with a lanyard, but really like the way they look. being a function over fashion type, i choose to keep 'em off my knife.

i'm not saying they reduce the function of a knife, in general, they just make it less useful for me in particular - cumbersome, annoying, in the way, etc.

My opinion mirrors yours. I've often wondered if a lanyard could be rigged to an expensive folder such as a Strider, Sebenza, Hinderer.... that would attach to a belt loop for instance, to insure against loss in the field but had a break-away feature.

Some kind of rig that allowed for withdrawing the knife and giving me full unencumbered range of use. After using the knife it could be easily re-attached. Maybe something like this exists already?

Other than loss prevention, I'd rather use the belt clip for ease of withdrawal over the knife swimming in my pocket and dragging it out via a lanyard. Machetes and large chopping fixed blades are what I use lanyards on. :)

I made one for my BK-2 and left it on there for a couple of days. I like the way they look too but I guess that's about as far as it goes.

i put lanyards on everything I can. Knives, machetes, water bottles...I tried attaching one to my girlfriend but that didn't go over to well.

I like them on my knives with smaller handles because they add gripping area and still keep a knife small and light. And they look nice. :D

Putting on girl friend?? Have to try that. Where can i tie it?

I put a paracord lanyard on my Vic Farmer. It was on for one day then I needed some cord to fix a lounge chair. That cord came in handy. I need to add another length.

I have used thr para cord lanyard to replace a busted boot lace and tie down my tent in high winds.
I put then on my knife, Jacket zipp & Wrap wrap around my f1 sheath.

I've put quite a few lanyards on knives I've made, some like them, some think it's like putting panties on a knife. I know of one older gentleman who had a very nice high end pocket knife with a lanyard due to it made it easier for him to retrieve his blade. Anyway, he got it yanked from his pocket by a fast moving thief coming out of a sports event....the theif grabbed his lanyard and his blade was gone in a flash. I'd never heard of such a thing before but, I imagine it's possible.

I have a lanyard on a couple of my knives. I keep one on my Izula because i pocket carry it. i have a monkey's fist on the end and leave that hanging out of my pocket.

I also have a lanyard on my g-10 dragonfly. there isn't enough knife to grab when it's clipped to the pocket so the lanyard makes it easier to draw.

I'd sure like to see a pic of your Izula rig. I pocket carry one in a kydex sheath for my EDC. :)
