Ka-bar’s video shows a leather sheath option, I might wait for that. The synthetic sheath looks decent and reasonably compact but I’m not a fan when they mold the outside as an image of the blade inside. A trend these days but eh, I don’t really like it. Nit picking I suppose.

I get that. I have difference reason. its all sand down here. the plastic ones are sand catchers. sand gets embedding in the plastic inside and they become scratch machines and grit noises in and out....... and ya can't wash it out. doesnt happen with leather.

I received mine a short time ago, and while the knife is fine the sheath definitely needs improvement ; it's nearly impossible to draw the knife from the sheath. I contacted Ka-Bar and was told that they are aware of the problem but continued knife withdrawal will loosen it up. She also mentioned that a leather sheath should be available in about a week. I think they should be replacing the plastic sheath with a leather one ; after all, the knife is priced considerably more than a standard Ka-Bar with a leather sheath.

I got mine and the replacement scales this week.
Just installed the scales.
The balance and feel is great. Even better with the replacement grip.
The sheath is tight but has a thumb release that I really love. Makes blade extraction smooth.
