That's right; you are supposed to warn people. I thought I was going to a site with an article asking if such a thing existed, not the actual horror.

And as for the US propaganda, I'm not opposed to a REALISTIC appraisal of US personel mistakes,just not a rabid exagerated claim at the end of a thread we were trying to calm down again.

What does that mean?

All of our soldiers are pillaging, murdering rapists?

Serving as a soldiers is the highest form of civic virtue.

We have respected forumites here, our top brass, so to speak, who have served their nation with honor. Then we have a thread called, for all extent and purpose:

"Just how psychotic and degenerative are our Marines, anyway?"

And strong emotion arrives. Then we get it strapped down and most said. It blows open because of irresponsible posting.

I can't say more than 3 times how much I love and respect my military forumites who saved my sorry ass by putting theirs on the line, can I? Well, what do you know- said it again.

Rest in Peace, Pappy. Wouldn't surprise me at all to learn your untimely passage was chemical related to service.

I was a dreg because I was working as a toolmaker awaiting a chance to get into the General Motors University. Three weeks after I reported to Fort Polk for basic after getting my draft notice, I got a letter accepting me. :grumpy:

I know...no offense intended. I just wanted to point out that the draft military had no more of a share of bottom feeders than the all volunteer military of today. The military is a cross section of society and a great equalizer. There are those who use it as a springboard to success just as there are those who wash out. It's *my* opinion though, that if you can't cut it in the service of your country, you probably won't do a whole lot better as a civilian.

I joined a week before I was to get my draft notice, so instead of being a "dreg of society" I became a "defender of freedom".
I could never separate the "dregs" from the "heroes", or the regulars from the reserversists once the firing started.
How did you tell us apart, Yvsa?

I would have been in the dregs as well if I hadn't joined the Guard. I was 24 and too old for that shlt and have the medical discharge to prove it. Sure proud that it is an honorable one too.
It cost me a lot to serve what time I did.:grumpy:
When you put on an American Uniform you are one of the best of the best in the world no matter whether you enlisted or were drafted!

As Munk has said, This thread has become hot again. Hollowdweller chooses to not do the right thing and edit his post, the last I looked. That has no call to be there. I think he is pissed at Munk for posting about the Left Brained Politicians, still no reason for that to be there.

I'm thoroughly disappointed in Hollowdweller. I thought he was better than that.:rolleyes: :grumpy:
