Hey all, I've got a question for all you fine folks with hopes that maybe someone has incurred a similar issue and it ended on a good note.

So I had a package mailed to me with a scheduled delivery date of SAT 8/2.

Saturday rolls around and the tracking# shows it as out for delivery, my mail comes and goes with no package.

Four hours later the tracking# updates and shows "Delivered". Well obviously this is a surprise to me as I was home when the mail ran and I don't have my

knives.

I figure maybe it will come today, Monday 8/4 but it doesn't. I go to my PO and they have no idea where it is and it turns out my regulat postman was off SAT

and their was a new guy. The weird thing is we got other mail, so he knew the right address and the package was a printoff from paypal so its not like he

mis-read it.

I'm hoping it didn't get delivered to the wrong address somehow, because if it did they kept it since its been 3 days. I've still got some hope that it is floating

around somewhere and will make its way home soon. They are going to get ahld of the carrier and ask what he did with it, and if he mis-delivered it does he

remember where too.

My question is has this happened to anybody before and if so did it turn up eventually?

Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like the new guy might have scanned it delivered and stole it, doesn't it? He had to scan it delivered, or it would not say so. I'd be asking him some questions.

I've had this happen with another package before. Fortunately, a coat, not a knife, but the whole debacle is not fun, nonetheless. It turned out that the new carrier delivered it to the wrong address. They figured out where, and I had the package within a few days. In my case, it was key to stay on them a bit and check in often. It all worked out in the end, though. I wish you the best in having this quickly resolved!

Oh I will be staying on them, believe that :D

That would truly be great if he was able to remember where he delivered it to.

Jill, that is a thought for sure, and I hope its not true.

Its all just so frustrating. I have been looking for any Easy Open traditionals for awhile, and when I actually find one this happens.

Call your local Post Office ASAP and explain your problem. Talk to Postmaster in person if the PO is close to you.

Many times we have different delivery people for mail and packages. We've frequently have multiple deliveries in one day.

We've had excellent success resolving problems with USPS. I cannot say the same thing about other delivery companies.

Happened to me twice.

One time the package was mis-delivered to my next door neighbor.

The other time, it was somewhere in post office limbo and showed up the next day.

Stay on them. The carrier should remember a package, especially addressed to a customer who got mail. Also, not the regular carrier may mean he is the regular replacement on the regular's day off. So he may be familiar with the route.

In my post office, I set up a strict experienced replacement schedule for days off, including replacements for replacements (holidays, vacation, sick leave). And we still had goofs misdeliver!

I'm willing to bet he delivered to the wrong house. I had packages delivered to the house a black over from me. We had the same house number and actually got to know the family at the other house. It happened all the time. Was it insured? Signature required deal? If so ask for the signed card.

i just went through this kind of. the postman actually delivered my package to another address and the tracking even said delivered.had to call the PO and he called the postman and then they delivered to me.

it was insured, but no sig required. the thing is the knives are over 70 years old and were bought long ago second hand so no reciepts.

Not sure if it is right for me to ask for a refund of some type since it was the POs fault?

If it was marked delivered, insurance won't cover it. You will have to deal with your local post office and try to find out why the carrier did scan it delivered. Could the package have been stolen from your mail box?

my house sits at the end of a deadend street away from the road, plus i was there when the mail was delivered so it wasnt stolen.

I just cant see how he would of mis-delivered it sincr we got our other mail.

This has happened to me twice once a nice older guy down the street with the same first name as me brought me my package. The second time I was kind of sweating it like you are now because my tracking number said delivered, but it showed up a few days later. I would just give it a few more days until you really start to worry.

Ya it sucks but you'll have to raise heck with the local post office. That's the one reason I don't like not having a signature it can be misdelivered or not delivered at all and be scanned with no recourse

I've had a couple of packages delivered to my house that weren't mine. Took a while to track down the owners, but both were very grateful. Hopefully if it got delivered to the wrong house, the person will come knocking.

Good luck

**UPDATE**

So I am at work last night kinda bummed about the whole situation when I look down at my phone to see I missed a call...

It was my sister and she had some great news, she was walking the dogs up the street and a little old lady cameout of her house and asked if

she knew this address and handed her a package. My sis said well yeah that my house and that my brother..haha

The lady said the mailman had just thrown it on her porch Saturday after delivering her other mail. Shes not in the best of health so that's

why she still had it, she was gonna wait to catch the mailman again.

Her address isn't even close to mine, let alone the names so I have no idea what the MM was thinking. I'm truly lucky because I don't live in the best of neighborhoods

various criminal activity and whatnot...so not everyone on my small street is so trustworthy.

I am happy as can be and just have one last small detail. To go let my local PO know what happened and to raise some thunder.

Just wanted to update you all and to let ya know there are still some good folks out there :)

Take care.

Praise the lord!!!!

Unbelievable how some of our mailmen just don't give a crap when it comes to doing their job correctly. You are a government employee for crying out loud!!! You have a very important duty and obligation. Delivering mail is just one of those jobs where you can not afford to screw up much less disregard other people's stuff!

Someone needs to lose their job at the post office over this. This is simply unacceptable.

it was insured, but no sig required. the thing is the knives are over 70 years old and were bought long ago second hand so no reciepts.

I do not see how it is the seller responsibility that USPS messed up.
Call the PO and talk to the post master and keep calling till they resolve the issue.
(EDIT: I saw your last post and I am happy that all ended well)

I am currently dealing with a different issue about a knife delivery. It took 4 phone calls and yelling at the post master till they decided to move their butts and do something. My package will be delivered tomorrow, 10 days after it was supposed to be in my mail box.

Glad this ended well for you. I know the PO terminal in Albany has had to be called more than once when my knives tracking number stops there for a week... then is found and delivered several days later.
