I will purchasing a knife but the seller has asked for a USPS MO if I send it and never recieve the merchandise is there anyway I can protect myself and recooperate my funds? I'm a litte nervous about sending several hundred dollars in a money order with no way of ensuring I will recieve the item. Can anyone adivse me on this? Thanks for the help.

Send it addressee only, signature required, that way you'll know he got it. If it's cashed, and he doesn't send the goods, the Postal Inspectors will be interested.

If you are really worried and the amount is large, use Registered Mail.

I never heard about USPS MOs,if you donot know much about the person you deal with, you better purchase through ebay.or third part keeping.but I think there almost people is good, business is risk always.it depend on your own judgement and the lost you can cover just in case.

At the very least, use delivery confirmation if not registered mail when you send the MO, to assure that you know if the package is delivered.

Keep the recipt for the postal money order, too. If the MO is lost and he in fact never recieves it, you can sumit a request to the USPS to be reimbursed. They will check if the MO was ever cashed and if not, they will return your money (minus a minor fee of $5-6). If the MO was cashed, you can talk to the post office about the possibility of filing charges for mail fraud, which is a federal crime that they take very seriously.

So, while nothing is 100%, you are fairly safe in sending postal MO thorough the USPS. ;)
