USPS now shipping Priority Mail the Scenic route

I ordered some oils and lubricants and they got shipped by USPS. Everything arrived broken and oil was everywhere, I could barely make out some of the writing on my order information because the paper had been soaked with the oil. I'm in contact right now but I haven't heard anything as far as resolving the issue yet. :(

I concur. USPS, may not be perfect, however, they're batting a thousand for me...knock on wood!

Maybe some of these problems that some of the people here are experiencing with USPS, have to do with Geographic's? I can just picture, JB Monkey's, apathetic mail lady marching through the swamps down in Dixie, carrying alligator repellant, dodging fire ants, & biting mosquitos all day. ;)

FWIW- I've made the point to get to know my mail lady. We've established a very friendly relationship (she understands what the word "PRIORITY" means). As for my local Post Office, back in Carlsbad- I've gotten to know most of the USPS clerks who work at that location, & the one's that I deal with, are all wonderful people, & treat me professionally. The doors are also open 24 hours a day, & they have a convenient self service kiosk, which can make shipping so much easier, when I'm busy with other more important things (work/surfing).

I'm presently up in a very small quaint town in North Central Idaho (Grangeville). The USPO up here, is great, & the people are very friendly...even though they know I'm one of those, California types, who looks different (quicksilver/billabong/reef sandals/visor attire). They just laugh, & say: "you're not from around these parts, are ye?" :D

USPS, is GTO, IMO. :thumbup::thumbup:

Could be? It is hot, wet and mosquitos wasps fireants snakes coywolves bears gators and horrible people like me etc everywhere..but that is most of florida.;) i get a new driver about every few months to a year. I forgot to mention, chiggers, & rednecks... ;)

I actually did a little Google/YouTube research on this USPS subject...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlUJmT2h3-4 (Check out the USPS carrier about 1 minute into this clip). People with this type of attitude, shouldn't be allowed to work in the service industry.

Good luck on receiving your package, JB. I think we all can actually relate, to the stress one feels, when your package gets caught up in one of these USPS twilight zone, time warp travels. It appears that many member's here, feel that USPS' service has been getting worse; for me (maybe I've been lucky), most of my packages, have been arriving in 2 to 3 days, & we're talking cross country.

I have been doing around 5000 packages a year for several years, using almost exclusively USPS first class and USPS Priority mail, most of my shipments have averaged 3 days regardless if it was Alaska, Texas or Maine. I have only had two packages actually lost in all the time I have been shipping, their service has been amazing. Never made a difference whether it was first class or priority ( same Service) they always came through. The last several months have been a different story, items sitting in Portland hub, sometimes for 4 or 5 days, items going to east coast then all the way back to California, shipments late or delayed many times every week. I hope they get this figured out, I am going to lose my Ninja shipping status, lol.

I've only ever had one issue with USPS shipping and they corrected it and it just took an extra day to get it back to me. I understand the frustration of packages lost or taking more time then expected its rough when you have something you can't wait to get your hands on in limbo. But for as many packages as I send or receive in a years time I think they've been the most reliable of the carriers I've used with UPS and FedEx being close.
I think in our new fangled instant gratification world we can get wrapped up in having to wait that extra bit.

Over the last 4 years, since getting a PO Box, out of 3000+ packages, I have had (KOW) only 1 package lost by the USPS, 1 package with contents lost due to the package somehow getting soaked and the corner ripped open, allowing the improperly secure Camillus Barlow to slip out and 1 package where the 1+ lb 1930s Bridgeport BSA hatchet was shipped loose in a rice paper grade box with only a couple of pieces of wadded up newspaper for packing and only ONE END of the box was taped shut. All 3 losses were inbound, none outbound.

So 3 issues out of 3k+ packages, and 2 of the losses occurred due to both shippers' not properly securing the contents. That's a pretty good track record. I've had some delay/misrouting issues but only 1 true loss by the USPS. That's a loss rate of less than 0.03%.

FEDEX and UPS??? I used to have packages just dumped off on the porch, even ones requiring a signature and then they would disappear, most likely due to mailbox shoppers who follow the trucks around in rural areas and pick up packages lieing on porches and stoops.

Since getting a PO Box at a USPO that accepts FEDEX and UPS deliveries about 40 miles from home, I have had ZERO FEDEX/UPS losses out of 200+ packages. Again, I've had some delays occasionally, but no losses.

yep plenty of chiggers, ticks, fleas, citrus rats as well. as for rednecks....not speaking about myself of course;).....most are polite and fine folks, but now some of those true swamp folks and ones out in the far reaches from the city areas are downright scary, even to me. worse than the people in deliverance and that isn't an exaggeration. i could tell some stories, about the wekiva river and the folks who used to live there before the state evicted them in the 80's... and a place called legends (r.i.p) on main ave in lake city...and that's in a city.........but this isn't the place or time.

you are a good luck charm, Sir. i finally got my package. appears it was shipped first class and went by freight truck...so a slow long ride. who knows maybe the driver stopped in Mississippi on the coast to gamble a little?:) i hope the op finally got his......and yes i see all over that usps has gotten worse....not sure why...was always bad for me, but everyone else seemed to have good ride with them until recently.....

Hey JB! Happy to hear, that your package finally arrived!

I have a challenge coin coming from Hawaii. I purchased it 22 August and it was mailed on the 24th. After that, it vanished from tracking. I figured that maybe it went surface, so would take a few days to make either San Diego or Los Angeles and the surface again.

Yesterday, the tracking updated as arriving in Pohnpei, FM. After googling, I found that this is somewhere in the Federated Micronesia Islands. So it took the proverbial slow boat, not to China, but in that general direction. Real curious as to what happens next.

I could also tell you a tale of what UPS did with my Sebenza that came from another very reputable vendor. Makes me think there's something in the water!

My worst USPS experience ever was something that was being shipped (intentionally!) to Pohnpei, FM. I shipped a pair of fishing rods from Portland to Pohnpei in September... they arrived in March the following year.

Yep, that's really a slow boat to Micronesia.

On a good note, tracking shows that my package arrived back in Honolulu today. Hhmm.. 2 weeks to get to Pohnpei and 4 days back to Hawaii? I guess the canoes paddle faster going east than they do west.

The postal service here in New Mexico is horrible. More like Old Mexico. A letter often takes five days to get to Arizona. And strangely enough, when it does snow or rain hard (not often) I never have any mail on those days... And twice as much mail the next day when it's stopped.

If anyone has USPS delivery issues send me a PM and I'll try to help.... maybe point some of you in the right direction.

I will try to find the tracking info from a package that I shipped back in August. It was going from Tennessee to Wyoming. It made stops in San Fransisco, Kansas City, back to Atlanta for 14 days, and then all of a sudden showed up in Cody, WY. All in all, it is hard to beat the prices of USPS though.

My package took another 4 days to get from Honolulu to Texas, so 2 weeks to go from Honolulu to Micronesia and 8 days to go from Micronesia to Texas. All for just $2.85.

USPS delivered one of two packages mailed the same day from the same vendor today, but the other package went for a ride.

Why?
