My last three tracking numbers, for delivery to my home, have been one day late. I understand that Xmas is jamming things up, but the post office should take that into account. Some folks may take time off work because they know they have to sign for a package. If that delivery is a day late, that's twice they take off work or drive down to the main P.O. later to pick it up.
Someone needs to thimk this out a bit.

Tell me about it. Their tracking system sucks, and deliveries are way behind. That is according to my postman.

I've had no issues this year still... And perhaps having to be there to sign and take off work, is something that should be considered... Taking off work to sign for a package? Really? If you aren't at home, it goes to the PO, then the next day you go to the PO and sign for it.. After work, or on lunch break.. Never hurt me to get something a day late :)

USPS has worked well for me....If i need something fast i pay for express.

I wouldn't leave work to sign for a knife...lol.

Since this has nothing to do with General KNIFE Discussion. Moved to FEEDBACK.

one day extra.....hummmmm.......

i'd be happy if i got my bills before they were due, and i got my magazines before the next 2 months were already out on the store shelves. oh and if i actually got my mail instead of the neighbors. not uncommon to see neighbors putting mail they got into the right neighbors box, like a weekly swap meet of mail exchange.

my local distribution office/post office or whatever it's called is so slow and disorganized it's not funny. my work address postman (who is a great guy)calls my home address dist. the deadzone, where all the troublemakers who can't be fired easily, get transferred. when i told him where i lived before i could say it, he started chuckling, and said i was in the deadzone distribution if i lived in these zipcodes....and he was right. i've gotten so used to it, years ago i switched to online billing and really important stuff i have delivered to work.

i laughed at the we are going to stop saturday delivery threat, cause no one in my neighborhood ever got mail on saturday.

although, to be fair, it's gotten better lately. i finally got a go getter postman now since the drunk i used to have who would be blitzed and parked under a tree and sleep half the day finally retired. so i expect better things, cause i've already had the worst possible service.....i assume??

in the end i feel your frustration, but if the usps just let you down now...... feel lucky. i've been let down for years with no results until a month or 2 ago....give or take....

I have yet to have a problem with USPS. Their rates are cheap and I haven't lost anything yet. (knock on wood)

I agree 100 percent. My last few packages have been at least a day behind their tracking info. Worst of all, the last one was 3 days late, and it was my spyderco southard...talk about anxiety on that one.

Keep in mind that delivery confirmation is not tracking although most of the time it can be used that way.It is really only to tell you that is was delivered.

I lost a shipment last year from Peter Atwood. Peter mailed it, sent me the tracking number, and it never showed up at my doorstop. I used the tracking number to file a missing package report with USPS. They took the number and told me that the tracking system said that it was "out for delivery" - which means that the USPS' responsibility had ended. They were not even willing to open a case for me. Once it leaves the P.O., then you have no recourse. They never did find that package - and I'm still steaming mad.

This is one of the reasons that the USPS is near bankruptcy. They don't provide the same level of service as their competitors. If they were a for-profit business - they would be out-of-business.

Through the years, I've had some late. Most likely weather related due to the PO using FedEx planes for most of these interstate shipments.
And weather isn't 100% reliable last I checked, especially in the aviation sector.

They all eventually made it. If they didn't, that's what insurance is for.

Don't like 'em, just don't use 'em. There are alternatives...

Priority mail is still the best value for shipping knives in my experience. It's not without hiccups at times but as mentioned you can go another way if you're fed up.

USPS Priority mail has been more reliable and faster for me than any of the other services. I usually ask for it if it is offered. It isn't 100%, but then neither are the other services.

Knock on wood.... I ve never had a problem with the USPS! They manage to keep me happy! Occasionally a package will come a day or two late but not about to miss work over that!!

You have to realize its like a restaurant.. If its not to crowded you'll get your food in 5-7 minutes but if the place is packed its gonna be a longer wait.. Christmas is right around the corner so it may be delayed 1 or few days..but its still faster then UPS Ground. IF you want it faster pay up.

Priority mail is not guaranteed. I believe that is stated in all their advertising. I have never had a problem with US mail. Sometimes times things are delayed or late. Sometimes things get lost. I don't know of any shipping company that doesn't have these issue. I think some people have no idea how much mail and packages are moved in the US in one day. It's truly amazing stuff gets anywhere. Want a guarantee then pay for it.

"The U.S. Postal Service handles 212 billion pieces of mail annually, or about two items for every man, woman and child in the country every day, according to the U.S. Census Bureau."

I live in Europe, i find the USPS boxes to be generally good. Oddly enough, padded envelopes are much cheaper and faster! They're fine for small knives, bigger stuff not.
