USPS Priority seems a bit spotty these days, more so than ever. Some packages shipped from NV have taken 7-10 days to get to their destination in the Midwest or East. Others have astoundingly quick shipping times. Just curious how many other users have made this observation too.

I have heard the same thing but have had great luck these past few weeks (knock on wood). I have a knife on its way to me now and it is scheduled for Saturday delivery. I will chime in if it makes it to me this week. I have a theory, If a knife is shipped out insured for more than $100 and signature required they tend to make it on the scheduled delivery date. If it is not fully insured or signature required, its hit or miss. The knife being shipped to me is Insure for over $300 and is Signature required so we will see if my theory is correct.

I can kill that theory right quick...my BM 7505 shipped from Joliet on Saturday insured for $500 didn't get delivered until last night. It apparently spent some quality time drinking and gambling in Reno...

Just received a package from KSF (great folks, btw). Would have expected three days OR to MA, took only two.

I've noticed (n=18 packages over the two months, darn this hobby) VERY quick delivery times from USPS priority. 3 days cross-country, 2 day for anything less, consistently.

Remember, just because a tracking number has been assigned by the shipper, that doesn't mean it's in USPS's hands.

Iv'e got a package that shipped on tuesday from Montana and the tracking indicates it just left the state... 2 days just to leave the state, really?
Estimated shipping date is today and it just left Montana and i'm in Wisconsin!

I use USPS all the time, pretty much exclusively priority, and it's always right on time - except it usually arrives a day late from destinations that are in the Southwest.

I had the same problem last week. Shipped a blade to VA from WA via USPA Priority 2 day, and it sat at my post office all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday before heading out late Monday night, to arrive late Tuesday, when it was scheduled to be there the previous Saturday.

Well Damn...... The knife being shipped to me is actually insured for 600 but said 300 because anything over that is automatically shipped signature required. I also didn't want people to know what i spend on knives some times lol guess they do now!

I have noticed this.... If a shipper drops off an Item say early that Day it some times leaves the sate that Day. But other times it seems the USPS workers are just slacking and don't get things shipped out!

At the risk of sounding like a USPS apologist, here's my take.

A flat-rate small Priority box ships for less than $6.

For your $6, over 90% of the time it will get there in 3 days or less, even coast to coast.

And this is supposedly BAD service? I, frankly, am thrilled about this.

I know, everyone has their anecdotes of damaged packages, delayed deliveries, misrouted shipments. I do too.

But for the most part, in my extensive experience with USPS Priority, they do a GREAT job.

I had a couple of packages take an extra day or two, but the USPS has been pretty reliable for me.

I've had several delays here and there, but the majority of my USPS shipments have been great. Never loss a package going in or out. *Knock on wood* They are in my opinion the best mailing option for the cost.

I ship anywhere from 5 to 10 packages a week, all with USPS and 99% of them get delivered within 3 days, sometimes 2 days. Every now and then one gets hung up somewhere for an extra day or two but I'm extremely happy with the service I get from the USPS. I think their services are some of the best bargains in our economy.

We have had great luck with USPS. I swear it makes a difference to take stuff to the post office. Just one less set of hands in the process. We do get the occasional package stuck in a sort facility. That sucks but it usually works its way out. We ship a ton of packages with USPS and have only had one not arrive. Tracking worked but it just set in a sort facility and they could not locate it. After 3 weeks I sent another one out to the customer and it arrived in 2 days. About 6 months later he called up to tell me the original knife had arrived! By that time we had all forgotten about it!

I sent a package and it has been sitting in Chicago for 9 days now. Im getting worried.

Don't get worried (upset, yes .... I'd be too!), the Chicago hub is THE worst!! I've also had things sit in Chicago for incredibly long periods of times. Record for me was 10 days. But .... in the end, have never had a package lost. On the other hand, most other routes are fine. As an example, I buy a lot of knives from a knifemaker/BF member in Texas. Have never failed to receive a priority flat rate package from him in two (business) days flat.

Geode - It is strange, I know we had a package that took a little long to get to me here in Atlanta.

But I sent 4 packages last week, all of them made it to their destination in 2-3 days, two packages went all the way to California.

I think it may just be some hubs are better than others.

I have full faith is the USPS - Best prices, high quality service.
