USPS problems.

I'd be more concerned that you've been misled. Look at the pics. He is clearly pushing on the blade. You can see the change in color under the nail on his middle finger. Spanner tools can be found for around 20-30 bucks. You can probably jury rig one if you know how the pivot works.

I hate when that happens. I once had a postman who would forget to deliver packages. Used to drive me nuts. After enough complaining it stopped. Not sure if they moved him, fired him or what, but I don't care. He's someone elses problem now.

I don't know about the delivery notice, but I know that some shippers are shipping UPS to the main area PO and then it gets shipped to the post office near you and then to you. Takes extra time and the tracking does not show it.

I've only ever had great experiences - and fast shipping - with USPS. It somewhat concerns me to see the amount of trouble they are having financially, but that's another discussion.

My experiences with FEDEX and UPS have all been adequate to terrible. Most people aren't going to be around at precisely 9:00 a.m. to answer the door three days in a row. Am I the only one that seems to routinely get "threatened" with final notices that they are going to return to sender?

it may just be in the mailbox,

The worst shipping service known to the history of all shipping services is Fedex Home Delivery. Fedex hires out private contractors to deliver the shipment to you, so its not even fedex doing the work! Additionally they have been known to lie about deliveries when they fail to deliver the days packages. Here's my own personal experience: The tracking said my package was on-route and according to Fedex, the package should arrive between 3-5 PM--but it didn't. I called up fedex and spoke to the operator asking whether my package would arrive or not, and most of them just said look at the tracking number. Every hour after 5:00 PM I would call Fedex and they would tell me the same thing. Finally one operator was more helpful and took the effort to see if my package was still on the truck and it was! He said 9:00 PM is a bit late--A BIT LATE??-- for them to be delivering and my package should arrive within 2 hours. The operator was true to his word and my package did arrive--at 10:30 PM.... Personally I hate waiting for packages. The wait drives me insane especially when a package doesn't arrive on the date/time indicated on the tracking # Both UPS and USPS has been great in my experience and I've had no troubles.

The money troubles we are having at the P.O. are due to having to "pre-fund" retirement. No other business in the world have to pre fund so far in advance as the USPS. We are talking BILLIONS of dollars each year. If I remember correctly the lady (USPS higher up) said mailmen that haven't even been born yet have their retirement paid already!!! It's a scam! Privatize the postal service and it would be a fortune 500 company! Sorry for the hyjack.

As a mail carrier for 35 years I used to get so frustrated with people sometimes. It would be 114 degrees in the shade if you could find some and 30' of mail to sort, load and deliver to a thousand stops in 8 hours along with parcels and accountable mail. Then here would come someone to stop me and say I didn't get my check.Even though I had already delivered a thousand letters,I'd say it's in you're box Sir.Oh no, it's not! Where is it??I'd go back to the house with the person and pull it out of his mail box right before his eyes!Lol,thank God I retired.I'm glad you got you're knife.:)

I was a manager in NYC ... 10024 ... and one of my carriers left for his route on a hot summer day. His high blood pressure knocked him off his feet halfway down the block. One of his customers saw him there and asked "Are you sick? Who is going to deliver my mail?"

The carrier, who was really in bad shape, told us when he heard that he thought he might as well die right there.

I do feel sorry for the messenger, some forget that the mailman is just delivering what he gets to deliver. Some cause their own problems and I show them no mercy. The ex local postmaster ordered me out of his office, I wrote a few letters and he was replaced. The other employees were grateful, the new post master is a real good guy, as far as I know. At least he is very nice to me.

Well I got her, and she's great. Added a little oil to the pivot and she's nice and smooth now. Old lock up, but no play yet. Just a little side to side and centering issues but that can be fixed once I buy the pivot tool. Thanks everyone! :)

That's bleak. Shows where we are at. Sad.
After hundreds of BST transaction I prefer USPS. They treat the boxes with more TLC than the other guys I have used. I have several destroyed boxes from the other guys to prove it.
However I did track an inbound USPS ID online of a box sent from California that was due to arrive is Colorado. It got scanned in Denver. I was expecting it in the mail that next day. 3 days latter another scan showed up in Boston MA. Had to wait another 4 days for it's eventual return to CO. I still don't know why it ended up on the wrong bus, but it founds it's way home in the end.

Coincidentally I'm having my first problem with USPS ever, I had a knife on the way to me and the tracking was updating regularly, and then all of a sudden stopped after "Departing sort facility" in Philadelphia. The estimated arrival date was on thursday, and it still hasn't arrived, and nor has there been any tracking updates.

I knew it was a matter of time before a package of my got lost :(

This happened to me as well. Updated tracking was constant and everything until the day after is was supposed to get here. I got "delivery status not yet updated" and this was after the "out for delivery" update. I went to my local USPS and they said to go to the one in which they sort the packages. It was a 10 min drive but I asked and the man went to the back room for like 3 seconds and pulled out my package. I don't know why they didn't deliver it so they might be holding it.
