USPS Starting To Worry Me

is it true that it is the sellers responsibility to make sure a pakage is delivered?

This has nothing to do with the post office, actually. However, if I give you money, I expect you to give me a knife for it. if you are busy, you can ask a friend to bring me the knife. If you have no friends, you can pay the post office to deliver the knife to me. :)

However you do it, it's your responsibility to get me that knife for the money I gave you. So yes, it is the seller's responsibility.

Keep in mind that any deal is a contract between us. We can set mutually agreeable terms, on price, condition of the knife, mailing requirements, even who is responsible in case of non-delivery. But barring an explicit waiver that I will accept a good-faith effort to mail it, I can hold you to getting a knife to me.

Sorry to hear about your trouble.

I have shipped over 200 packages through the U.S. Post Office (Priority Flat Rate) in the last 6 months with not one problem and most weighed between 30 and 50 pounds each. I even got the address wrong on one and it was still delivered. I have been shipping my knives USPS Express mail for the last 10 years, also with no problems.

I have had trouble with FedEx, both shipping and receiving.

UPS as been very good with deliverys but I have heard horror storys from other makers about lost and stolen knives, so I wont use them.

I deal with a small, one person rual Posy Office and the service here has been fantastic.

The "Tracking" ended there when I suspect a Postal worker took a shine to my CRKT Jim Hammond.

A good friend of mine recently received a FedEx box that was missing it's $12,000 engraved folder from Ray Cover Jr. The box was cut open and the knife was removed but they did deliver the box:thumbup:

Hukk, you think your UPS driver is below par:confused: I was having all kinds of 'late, delayed by a day, missed' deliveries for awhile there too. Then one day I was leaving my place to go to town, and I see the UPS van parked a few doors down, ok, my package should be there when I get home in a few minutes. Nope, there's the van still in the same spot:confused: I gotta check on this I think to myself, so I stop, and walk up to the house. I hear something going on around the back, so I look:eek: and what do I see? The UPS guy pronging my neighbors wife:eek: Now I know where all his 'lost time' was being spent, and my lack of packages :jerkit: seeing as how I'm a rural address, this driver was using that excuse to buy time to do his own thing. I caught his eye and left, few minutes later he's dropping the package at my door red faced as all get out I laugh, and did'nt say a thing:rolleyes: <just gave him one of these, and he left without saying a word. He left a slip on my package with his cell number that says, call for free pickup anytime;) So since then not a one of my packages has ever been late, nor have I had to pay pickup charges so I guess he got the message:D

I like your story there that's a classic:jerkit: And a happy ending for you, congratulations!
After the latest incedent, just yesterday, I am moving my shop to my mother in laws, she's in declining health and could use some help.
My driver left me a notice with the wrong info number, it had already been used, and showed that my stuff had been delivered to someone else. So at that point 2 chemicals that are hazardous and 1 potentially explosive, if someone chemically smart knows what they are doing. OH, there's just 32 LBS of that one. The other one is in powdered form also, but once water is added it's toxic, so is the dust for that matter. That one is used to remove TiO2 from titanium before annodizing, toxic, it will eat glass. As it stands, these are lost for the moment, I suspected on his truck. I did talk to his boss, showed him the order, explained what was in it and the consequences. Talk about MAD and seeing someone turn RED, he called on the cell phone and told Forrest, "get your a** in here right Now". He was yelling so loud that the people in the warehouse started watching. Then just last night my driver showed up with the items in hand and apologized at 7 PM. Kinda surprised me, but I sure felt better having that stuff where it belonged.
Yes, my driver is way below par, he also delivered a $14,000.00 check to the wrong house 2 months ago. Sheesh, seems like moving the shop is the best option and it needs to be done for my mother in law anyway.
