Usps

The problem with all the carriers is the volume that they have to handle. I learned to tape up every possible seam and flap on boxes so that the they can't get their fingers under or inside. We had the end of a box with 2 new shotguns ripped off at a UPS distibution center. We got the guns back because the paper work was inside the bubble wrap. Our driver told us that the guys would try to stick their fingers in any available opening. They are not trying to steal stuff. It makes it easier to handle large boxes. Sometimes they rip the box.

Hint: Besides the insurance lable, you can buy a signature required tracking lable (RED) for USPS shipping. The main problem I have had with USPS is the contract workers. Many of them are to lazy to do their job.

There is a well known knife maker who always ships by Express mail. If the package is not delivered within 24 hours, you get your money back. He gets a lot of his money back. :)

I agree with finding another delivery service the USPS tracking system is a joke, and with all i have been through lately i have asked them alot of questions they told me never use them for overseas shipping and to also never ship overseas:eek: as it is not our country and our laws do not apply there and if i do ship there to use UPS or FedeX both of there tracking systems can be viewed and you can see every step across the country most times with USPS you can only see the delivery after you have recieved it  and that just plain sucks when you are shipping hundreds or thousans of dollars worth of items.

After MANY transactions with the the great members here, I finally encountered a shipping problem.......a package with 2 Camp Tramps and 2 Bandicoots "evaporated" from the hands of the post office. I had delivery confirmation on it and Insurance.....the DC shows it was delivered on the 3rd of Jan....however mt friend said he nver got it.....with it being insured...he or someone HAD to sign for it. So the 21 days pass and I file a claim. The other post office said it was shown as delivered ....so in their mind it was. I ask them who signed the insurance card....and now they can't find it? After about 5 days I finally got an official "we can't provide the insurance card so go ahead and file a claim" this was after they called me a liar. They had the nerve to tell me that the package was delivered and this is pointless! What makes this a true shame is that these were head for our Soldiers of the Reserve.

I got a receipt for the knives as proof of value and there was a misspelled word on the page and the Claims clerk had the never to ask me if I typed it up myself!

All the great transactions I had and then this one mishap and it is the attitude of the employees that tarnish my outlook of the USPS...now the wait to see if my claim is denied or need more proof of value.

USPS is a system that has from what I can see no checks and or measures, It is a lucky dip or russian roulette with you ever getting your items that are posted.
If some thing is lost all you can do is chase Paypal etc.
I ran around with the Aussie postal service and the Customs people with no information that meant anything to them from USPS and got no where.
Parcel last seen in some Postal distribution centre 2 days after it was posted, 2 months ago.
No doubt in some Posties pocket now.
The "system" here is no better.
Corrupt beyond belief where the people supervising are only supervising their share of the loot.

USPS does it again...and again...and again....

From the various posts I've read on USPS, it doesn't seem worthwhile to purchase the insurance because more times than not you are going to have to fight with them to get them to pay. Once "they" say it was delivered, you're pretty much screwed. The time and hassle usually isn't worth it. Has anyone actually had USPS pay up on the insurance and if so how long did it take and how much trouble to get them to fork it over?

Time for an Update on this.

Package mailed December 30 2006
File claimed January 29, 2007 (mandatory 30 waiting period for priority mailed boxes)
Mid March called Service center...they have no record of my claim!
Mid March Local Post Office resent claim Certified to find out who is receiving the claim.
Claim waiting for review for 2 months.
May 22, I get an automated response that the claim has been reviewed and a Check will be mailed in the next 48 hours for the full amount. I wonder if they reimburse you for the shipping and insurance charges...or do I write that off?

So as of now it seems as though I didn't have to fight for it...just 5 months of waiting, so as long as the "check is in the mail" I will chalk this up to an overall good show by the Post Office. I provided all documentation and the responded accordingly, just a little longer wait than I would have like to seen.
So I give the Post Office 1:thumbup:
