Utah Makers

ya my shop is in Provo, my work is just 1.2 miles from am apartment :D:thumbup:. My schedule is very flexible. I'm a machinist so as long as i get my 8 i can work any time i want with as long as a lunch as i need. I'm going to look at where every one lives and see if there is a happy median meeting place.

Darren,

LX_Emergency, You're welcome over if you're ever in the neighborhood. Where are you now?
Rick

Tanks Rick, I live in the Netherlands right now. But me and my wife have always wanted to visit the states together sometime and since I have a lot of relatives in UT that was definately one of our hang out places. Might be a few years before we do though since our since is only a year old and the flight costs an arm and a leg.

ok here is the little map i did with google maps, we are not very far apart except for Robert who is in St.George, that would be a long drive :(.

Salt lake is obviously central so that could work just for us all to meet but since nobody resides there or has a shop there I think Rick or JTs places could work. Maybe we could meet at Cabelas or something, since I assume everyone probably knows where that is.

I could do weekdays but I'm a stay at home dad so my 9 month old would be along. That would be fine if we're just going to meet and do lunch but if we're going to a shop it wouldn't be the best place for a child. If it were an evening or weekend then he could stay at home with my wife.

Hey JT, thanks for the map. I work in Lehi, so lunch at Cabelas sounds good to me. My schedule is usually pretty flexible, although I do have meeting around lunch on Wednesdays, so I can take a long lunch if needed.

Darren, bring your kid, nothing like starting them out young learning to make knives!

Mark

hi my name is Eldon Talley i'm a knifemaker in Manti, I work in S.L.C. on fri. sat. sun. I like to meet other makers and visit other shops. If any of you are ever around Manti feel free to stop in. here are some pictures of some of my work.

Ya a lunch at cabelas would be good, plus bubba-doll has been asking when I'm going to take her on a date to cabelas :D.

Welcome aboard Eldon! You're definitely welcome to join us for lunch when it happens and you're welcome at my place whenever you're in the area.

Judging from the look of your work and knowing you're from Manti I'd guess you've spent some time with S.R. Johnson. Nice looking work!

Rick

Hey Eldon, glad to hear from you, and nice work. This seems to be headed in the right direction. Based on Eldon's schedule how about a Friday lunch? Sounds like me, JT (hope your girlfriend can make it), and Rick work close to Cabelas, so that leaves Eldon, Darren and anyone else who may be able to make it. How about you Robert? So the question is how about this Friday? What time, 11:00, 11:30, ??? I'm open, so I'll let someone else make the decision seeing as their schedule may not be flexible.

Mark

well my girlfriend gets off of work at 2:30 and takes a lunch at 11.00 but she onley takes a 1/2 hr. she might be able to take a longer one. but if it was a little latter i could be off by then and hang out as long as any one wanted to. but realy i'm preat flexabul. i'm working a lot of extra hrs today so i will not have to work as long on friday. we should bring some of our pointy things we have made.

I will be in Hawaii until the 23rd so can't do anything til after then but don't let that stop things. There will be plenty of time for me to meet everyone. But.... if you wanted to wait that would be great:D

If lunch is to difficult we could shoot for early afternoon (3:00?) to meet at Cabelas for coffee, coke, whatever.

A2 Rocks glad to hear there are more makers chimming in. Looks like you and the other fellow are live north of SLC. We were thinking about Cabelas to meet, but that doesn't mean we can't meet further north this time, or next time.

Darren, don't worry I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity to meet. Enjoy Hawaii.

Mark

Well everything went kind of quite. Anybody still up for meeting at Cabelas? I'm still up for it. Like I said before my schedules flexible, so somebody else can pick a time.

Mark

I'm up for it any time. My schedule is flexible as well. So far it's me and Mark and I'll bet JT with perhaps Bubba-Doll.

Can anyone else make it?

O you bet i will be there when ever where ever :) bubba-doll just got a second job and so she works late. but it all depends on when we do it. if its this friday she will be working.

By the time get get togather to do knives i will have my forging press done :D yay I'm so excited

JT if bubba-doll can't make it tomorrow why don't we shoot for lunch and see how her schedule works out next time. How's 11:30 at cabelas sound?

Rick?, Anyone else?

Mark

I'll be there at 11:30. Let's meet at the shooting gallery. I don't think that there will be too many people there at that time of day so it will make it easier to figure out who's who. But just in case there's a lot of people... I'll be the tall dark handsome guy. ;)

See you then

Rick

Dang, I wanted to be the TDHG. Guess I'll go for 6', 170lb, short blodebrown hair. The shooting gallery it is.
