i don't have a "shop" and i am not a "maker" but i am trying to become someone who makes knives. I only post this because i live in tooele. contact me if you want to know what i am doing to become a "maker"

I'm in Pleasant Grove and am working on getting the final things put together to start making knives, unfortunately I'm only 16 and my schedule is very tight (taking college classes in highschool eats time like nothing else:jerkit:), but if everyone wants to get together on a saturday or weekday night I would love to get some face to face advice from more expierenced makers.

So it's Jarod Skellington... Sweet! :)

The shooting gallery is at the top of the stairs not too far from the cafe.

Welcome aboard ultrahesh and knife addict. I'm sure that there will be other times and everyone is welcome. All us lunatics need to stick together.

dang, i'm running behind and its 11.30 now. I wish i had a way to contact everyone besides just on the forum. it does not look like I'm going to make it as if i left now it would still take me at least half an hr to get there :( i'm sorry.

Hey JT, Work decided to run me late and I did not make it to cabelas until about 12:10, I had an idea of what you looked like (saw a few guys with shaved heads), butI did not see you so I hung around until about 12:30 and left. I think next time I'll PM you and Rick my cell phone number. Probably should have done that this time. I was looking forward to a nice knife discussion over lunch.

Mark

I'll be passing through Utah 3/22-3/28....would love to hook-up with any other makers. If you guys have another get-together during that time, let me know.

ya cell phone number exchange would be good.

I'm not a maker yet but I want to be. I've met Jared before when my son and I picked up a knife from him last summer. I've also met Ricardo Velarde. Got my first custom from him about 12 years ago. Great guy. Lives in Park City now. Steve Johnson lives in Manti. Now there is a guy who I would like to spend a year with. I could say the same about Ricardo. They both build some outstanding stuff. Ricardo learned under Steve.

There used to be an association in Utah. The Utah Blade Association. I was a member years ago. It was a pretty small group but you sure could learn a lot. Most of the members were makers.

Jim Sigg is another maker Siggma knives. Salt Lake area somewhere. Another is Lynn Maxfield. I think he is in Layton.

There are more, just can't think of their names right off the bat.

I'd be up for lunch or dinner or whatever sometime too. Looks like I was a few hours late for today's meeting.

Sorry, Mark. I was there from 11:30 till 12:00 and then headed out when I didn't see anyone. Sounds like I just missed you.

Let's get a better communication handle between all of us and try this again. JT's idea for passing cell phone info sounds like a winner. Should of done that to begin with.

On another note, the list of interested folks is getting kind of large. Instead of keeping this thread going perpetually why doesn't everyone email me their contact info and I'll put together a list of everyone that replies and blast it back out to everyone. Send me your BF ID, real name, contact phone if you want it published to our group, city, and a short bio about yourself. Don't send me anything you don't want all of us to know.

Maybe we can shoot for next week around noon since that time seemed to work better this week.

I'm sure my email is listed in my details but just incase it's

Baumknives@msn.com

Look forward to getting us better organized next time.

Rick
