Utility Fighter Appreciation Thread

It’s growing on me. On my kit, real estate is paramount. I still think it’s a bit long for my tastes compared to the DEK. FK3 is on the backcountry rig and it’s perfect for hunting/camping stuff. The UF2 is really growing on me but I don’t necessarily know if I would choose it over my DEK1 yet. Sure is an epic blade though!

I'm curious as to the differences. Is it just handle shape and length (an extra bit added to the pommel area)? I see the larger finger guard.

Thanks for this pic, I've never seen a side by side comparison :)

Pretty much handle tweaks and jimping:

For the record, both awesome!!! 👌

Subliminal message: "YOU NEED BOTH"

They both feel great in the hand but to me the biggest improvement for the UF2 is the thumb ramp, it puts your thumb position a bit more forward and the taller ramp feels more secure.

Length is the same, the last screw in the UF2 is just further forward, so the pommel looks a bit different.

Main difference is jimping. Also, the UF1 Mashed Cat sheath is notably longer and thinner than the UF2's. A little easier on deep pockets.

And: the UF1 also comes in AEB-L. :)

We found that, if you were striking the butt of the original with a hammer and you hit the scales, it was possible to bust the scales right into the screw hole. Moving the rear fasteners forward a bit leaves more meat which makes the scale more durable if there's a mishap with a hammer.

This was a design change developed for the Shiv and carried over into the UF

Bump.
