For Valentines Day, I suggested to my wonderful significant (and patient) other to go backpacking, and so forth we went! We hit up one of my favorite spots in NC, Linville Gorge, for a weekend of relaxation and breathtaking views. It was truly a great weekend to appreciate each other and some of Natures finest. Here are some pictures of what followed.
This trip was by no means ultra light, I brought enough fluids to power a camel. Another note to make fellow forumites, Kroger does not sell cheap boxed wine. Im always toting about taking wine bladders on backpacking trips (Ok, Ive only done that once), well this is the first trip that Ive actually packed in a bottle and packed the trash out. I had originally planned to take one of those 3 liter bladders, but Kroger was charging an arm and a leg for em. Uncle Bens Mexican Rice was a sure hit though, mixing it with a little cheese and tortillas made for a great winter snack. Additionally, trail bologna, beef jerky, and Scooby fruit snacks were also enjoyed on the trip. In normal Joe picture spamming manner:
Car camping as we came in late Friday night.
To the trail..after poptarts nom nom nom
