Valor II wallet knife

hard chroming really doesnt cost very much, i'll bet you could even do it cheaper than what youre contemplating and it'd be much more durable, just my 2 cents:o

The silver solder will tarnish pretty quick so it won't be shiny but it will still afford some rust protection for the 01. There is also a very easy electroplating process now that does not involve tanks. It uses a metalic brush that has DC current running through it and the piece is grounded. You just "paint" it on after you dip the brush in the electrolyte.

When I told a friend of mine who is a very accomplished jeweler about that new electroplating process she ordered one that day. It is cheaper and faster then the traditional tank method.

I find the best rust prevention for O1 is a mirror finish. That knife shouldnt be hard to mirror with those flats....mirror the flats and ren wax the bevel.

its funny that you metion mirror finish being resistent to rusting. i polished one side the blade and then left in vinager for a fue hrs. the side i plished have a very very light gray finish and the other side had red rust sarting. i had onley finished the polished side to 200 grit. so i think if the blade was brought up to a mirror polish it would be dang close to staneless. im going to do some small samples at verying degrees of finish and see how thay react to diffrent enviorments.

That light gray will also help prevent future rusting, sort of like bluing.

You might want to try that too, get some cold blue and see how it looks on one of these.

O NOT AT ALL, i have working a ton at my job because this is my last week. but the good newa is that my last day is fryday and i start me new job on wed so im goingto get a lot of these knives done in the 4 days i have off. my new job will give me a bunch more time to do knives. im saving so my wife and i can afford to go to disneyland next year.

yep good to hear from you to, you know how work and life gets. dont wory your knife will be done very soon. what kind of RC hardness do you want on this knife.

ok i have gotten it to a point where i will be very proud to carry it in my wallet. the onley thing that bugs me is the holes and how there not true. but like i said befor this is not going to be a problem on the next knives. right now im charging my camera so i can upload the pictures.

Im now done with mine and cary it proudley with me all the time, so now i can start on Deaths head. also just to let you know its onley taken up to around 300-400 grit finish and it looks very good. im not much for a mirror finish.

well i thought it needed somthing else because it looked to plane, so i etched it. what do you think.

well i etch it with electricty. i made and electro etch and then i coat the blade with wax and then draw what i want through the wax the i use my etcher to etch the pattern. i can do any pattern you want, its taken me a wile to get good results lik what you see here. the etch is deap and will catch you finger nail so it wont rub off, and the black part wont come off eather.
